262 REPORT OF BID OPENING , Electronic Communications Equipment , Police Department . The following bid was received on August 25 , 1971 : Motorola Communications and Electronics Inc . $42 , 992 . 00 Funds were provided in the 1971 -1972 Budget in the amount of $ 50 , 000 to accomplish the entire project , with an estimate of $43 , 000 for the electronics communications equipment , and balance of funds to be used in preparation for installation and placement of this equipment . Staff recommended that the bid of Motorola Communications and Electronics Inc . be accepted . Councilman Williams moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6589 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION OF ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT , seconded by Councilman Rhodes and carried on roll call vote . MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT SPECIFICATIONS : Council on August 30 , 1971 , authorized a priority listing of a revised replacement equipment program for 1971 -72 . City Manager recommended call for bids be scheduled for this needed equipment as soon as possible in order to save expensive maintenance costs . (A ) Police Patrol Vehicles ( 5 ) Staff requested approval to purchase five police patrol vehicles from the State of California as was satisfactorily done last year . This action would authorize replacement of 5 police patrol vehicles as approved by Council on August 30th , reducing from 9 requested in the current Budget to purchase of 5 for this fiscal year. . Councilman Rhodes moved to authorize suspension of requirements o f Article VII of Chapter 2 of Municipal Code relating to purchase o f equipment and supplies , and authorizing City Manager to purchase 5 police patrol vehicles through Office of Procurement , Department o f.
