262 <br /> REPORT OF BID OPENING , Electronic Communications Equipment , Police <br /> Department . The following bid was received on August 25 , 1971 : <br /> Motorola Communications and Electronics Inc . $42 , 992 . 00 <br /> Funds were provided in the 1971 -1972 Budget in the amount of <br /> $ 50 , 000 to accomplish the entire project , with an estimate of <br /> $43 , 000 for the electronics communications equipment , and <br /> balance of funds to be used in preparation for installation and <br /> placement of this equipment . Staff recommended that the bid of <br /> Motorola Communications and Electronics Inc . be accepted . <br /> Councilman Williams moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6589 AWARDING <br /> CONTRACT FOR THE FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION OF ELECTRONIC <br /> COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT , seconded by <br /> Councilman Rhodes and carried on roll call vote . <br /> MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT SPECIFICATIONS : <br /> Council on August 30 , 1971 , authorized a priority listing of a <br /> revised replacement equipment program for 1971 -72 . City Manager <br /> recommended call for bids be scheduled for this needed equipment <br /> as soon as possible in order to save expensive maintenance costs . <br /> (A ) Police Patrol Vehicles ( 5 ) <br /> Staff requested approval to purchase five police patrol vehicles from <br /> the State of California as was satisfactorily done last year . <br /> This action would authorize replacement of 5 police patrol vehicles <br /> as approved by Council on August 30th , reducing from 9 requested <br /> in the current Budget to purchase of 5 for this fiscal year. . <br /> Councilman Rhodes moved to authorize suspension of requirements <br /> o f Article VII of Chapter 2 of Municipal Code relating to purchase <br /> o f equipment and supplies , and authorizing City Manager to purchase <br /> 5 police patrol vehicles through Office of Procurement , Department <br /> o f. General Services of State of California , seconded by Councilman <br /> Henderson and carried on roll call vote . (MINUTE ORDER #71 -164 ) <br /> Councilman Keckley moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6590 AUTHORIZING THE <br /> DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO PURCHASE <br /> CERTAIN DESIGNATED VEHICLES , seconded by Councilman Williams and carried <br /> on roll call vote , <br /> (B ) Approval of specifications and authorization for City Clerk to <br /> call for bids for : Two - 2 -ton Dump Trucks ; two - 3 /4- ton Pick up <br /> Trucks , and one Truck-Cab and Chassis . <br /> Councilman.
