- , 7 i7t Councilman Weymouth further recommended that Raul Jaramillo be appointed to fill the vacancy on the Planning Commission created by the resignation of Mr . Williams . After relinquishing the gavel to Councilman Petersen, Vice-Mayor Keckley seconded the nomination of Mr . Williams , noting his outstanding service on the Planning Commission and stating that he would bring to the Council the businessman ' s skills which are needed inthe fiscal operation of a City of this size . There being no further nominations , Councilman Henderson moved that the nominations be closed , seconded by Councilman Rhodes , and carried . On roll call vote , motion to appoint James S . Williams carried unanimously, Mayor Bury being noted absent . (MINUTE ORDER #71 - 15) James S . Williams expressed his appreciation for the vote of confidence given him by the Council and thanked his supporters for their interest and help in the past . He stated that he was looking forward to working with Council and continuing his involvement in City government . Councilman Henderson nominated Raul Jaramillo to the vacancy on the Planning Commission , stated she was pleased to support the recommendation of Councilman Weymouth . She noted Mr . Jaramillo ' s outstanding personal qualifications for service to the City in a number of areas on the Planning Commission and in the total community , particularly his qualification of being fluently bilingual . Councilman Petersen seconded the nomination, stating that Redwood City is most fortunate in being able to have a man of Mr . Jaramillo ' s ability to serve on the Planning Commission , noting that he is not only articulate and knowledgeable but completely interested in the community and very anxious to be of help , There be?ng no further nominations , Councilman Weymouth moved that the nominations be closed , seconded by Councilman Petersen , and carried . On roll call vote , motion to appoint Raul Jaramillo to the Planning Commission carried unanimously , Mayor Bury being noted absent . (MINUTE ORDER #71- 16) Vice -Mayor Keckley noted that Mr , Williams and Mr . Jaramillo would be sworn in at the next Council meeting .
