16
John Mace , President of Fire Fighters Local
2014 , stated that it was his understanding
that maintenance and other matters other
than hours for fire fighting personnel would
be at the discretion of the Chief .
Councilman Henderson expressed concern that the City is at the point of
critical balance between Class 3 and Class 4 for insurance , and felt
that a Staff report prior to budget sessions would be desirable . She
felt that Council should stand on the negotiations as agreed upon , but
at the same time examine the points brought up by Chief Lodi and ask
Staff to report . (Memo 1 -26-71)
City Manager stated that at the time of the last fire rating , City
was on the critical edge of Class 3 and the situation has not changed .
He further stated that the negotiations included provisions for
additional personnel in order to meet the reduced hours . The package
as agreed upon includes the cost of additional personnel , and Staff
is prepared to bring to Council the recommendation for additional
fire fighters . (Memo 1 -26-71 )
Councilman Henderson moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6550 ACCEPTING REPORT
OF COOPERATIVE PERSONNEL SERVICES OF THE CALIFORNIA STATE PERSONNEL
BOARD ; AND, APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE JOB SPECIFICATIONS THEREIN SET
FORTH , noting the CPS study took considerable time to prepare and be
examined and considered by Council , Staff , and employee groups , and
will go a long way toward correcting some inequities which existed .
She felt it was a worthwhile investment of City ' s funds . Motion
seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried on roll call vote , Mayor
Bury being noted absent .
Councilman Petersen moved to introduce Ordinance amending Municipal Code
consolidating offices of City Assessor and City Auditor and repealing
Section 2 . 12 . 2 , seconded by Councilman Rhodes , and carried .
Consideration of Staff recommendation for salaries of part-time and
seasonal employees .
Recommendations had been submitted to Council at meeting of January 18 ,
1971 . In response to Council question , City Manager advised that
Crossing Guards are included in the recommendation .
Councilman Weymouth moved to approve the recommendations as submitted ,
seconded by Councilman Rhodes , and carried . (MINUTE ORDER #71 - 17)
