48 <br /> Responding to questions by Council relative to pollution problem in lagoons , <br /> Mr . Reiter advised that monitoring program was continuing but no answer to <br /> problem at this time . <br /> Mr . Charles Wynn , of Leslie Properties , reported <br /> that since housing construction resumed , figures <br /> are beginning to be impressive . He presented <br /> statistics of current construction by Lyons Company <br /> and their anticipated home building construction <br /> starts , as we11 as for American Housing , and <br /> estimated the gross value would approximate six <br /> million dollars . He indicated Stanley C . Swartz <br /> Company was expected to resume their construction <br /> and that Levitt & Sons has applied to Planning <br /> Commission for a Planned Development Permit for <br /> an apartment complex , which if approved would be <br /> under construction by June , Commercial programs <br /> are moving ahead also . <br /> Mr . Wynn responded to questions by Council , and he indicated sales were <br /> very good , with all of American Housing ' s starts being sold . He noted <br /> that Levitt & Sons was the largest building organization in the world <br /> and that they engage top architectural talent . Mayor Bury suggested it <br /> would be helpful for Council to have an opportunity to meet with the <br /> principals as the development continued . With reference to question <br /> concerning schools , it was learned tht the developments so far in Redwood <br /> Shores are all in the Belmont School District . <br /> Mr , Paul Tessendorff , 145 Claremont , questioned <br /> what effort is being made to attract more industry <br /> to Redwood City , to which Mayor Bury responded . <br /> Mr . Wynn advised , in response to question by Council , that sales staff <br /> has been made aware of the responsibility to inform home buyers of the <br /> tax rate . The matter of a letter from the Redwood Shores Homeowners ' <br /> group also was discussed , and City Manager advised response is in final <br /> draft form and being reviewed by City Attorney , and expected to be out <br /> within the week . <br /> Mr . George Hayes , 506 Trident Drive , informed Council <br /> he was advised by a Mr . Roger Tibbs that day that <br /> Swartz no longer will build large townhouses as in <br /> the past , but would build "patio homes " , instead . <br /> Mr . Tibbs evidently was interested in purchasing a <br /> townhouse , but was informed by Swartz of their <br /> intention not to build this type in the future . <br /> Mr . Wynn indicated that the Swartz firm ' s plans do call for patio houses , <br /> and that the firm has the right to build whatever is considered most <br /> marketable . He described the patio house as one having a zero setback <br /> on one side with yard on the other three , in a cluster type development . <br />
