69 <br /> Councilman Henderson felt it would be appropriate to communicate with the <br /> County and PUC concerning the hope that a public hearing would be held <br /> after the "Master Plan " ( of successful applicant ) is received . <br /> Mr , James Knecht , 1720 Valota Road , Park and <br /> Recreation Commissioner , also felt a public <br /> hearing should be held by PUC , and indicated <br /> there is considerable interest in a public golf <br /> course . He felt Council should reactivate the <br /> Citizens ' Committee and attempt to get a hearing <br /> with PUC . He stated that a golf course was <br /> needed and that they pay for themselves . He <br /> inquired whether Council felt there would be an <br /> opportunity to have a course in Redwood Shores . <br /> Mayor Bury noted there were several possibilities , including Bair Island . <br /> There was brief discussion as to mechanics of appointing the Citizens ' <br /> Committee . <br /> Councilman Weymouth moved that Park and Recreation Commission be authorized to <br /> recommend persons to be named to the Citizens ' Committee , for consideration <br /> by Council , seconded by Councilman Keckley . <br /> Doris Thompson , Park and Recreation Commissioner , <br /> added her hope for encouragement to establish the <br /> Committee . <br /> Councilman Henderson suggested that Park and Recreation Commission be asked <br /> to establish the Committee and bring reports from time to time to Council . <br /> Councilman Weymouth then amended his motion to request Park and Recreation <br /> Commission to form the Citizens ' Committee and make recommendations to <br /> Council , seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried . (MINUTE ORDER #71--49) <br /> Councilman Henderson moved that Mayor Bury be requested to communicate with <br /> PUC and the City and County of San Francisco , and County of San Mateo , to <br /> request a public hearing on Master Plan to be presented to PUC , and that <br /> it be before action is taken by PUC , and that copies of the letter should <br /> go to the communities in the area to review , before hearing is held , seconded <br /> by Councilman Williams and carried . (MINUTE ORDER #71- 50) <br /> Mayor Bury noted the recognition being given Park Superintendent through the <br /> Daisy Awards Program , <br /> Councilman Williams read from the announcement concerning recipients of the <br /> 1971 Daisy Award to be honored at St . Francies Yacht Club on March 20 : <br /> "Municipal Improvement : Pasco Balzarini , Superintendent of Parks , City of <br /> Redwood City . During the past 24 years , Balzarini ' s personal dedication <br /> has given Redwood City more beautiful parks for the tax dollar than any <br /> comparable city of its size in California . " <br />
