Councilman Henderson suggested that response should be made
to the Board of Supervisors , endorsing the proposal , and urging the
Board to consider establishing a date for election , and use caution
in setting tie date . It was also felt response should indicate City
did not accept the June date .
With reference to the use of growth retardant chemicals , Mayor Bury noted
that he had observed spraying equipment used by utility companies , and
questioned whether this might be detrimental to human health . He felt
this should be referred to Staff for response , City Manager advised that
for the past three years the herbicide has been used to retard growth under
utility lines . Mayor Bury requested the matter be referred to Staff for
continuing observation , and to respond to the Committee .
Councilman Henderson moved to accept the communications and recommendations
for making appropriate response , seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried .
(MINUTE ORDER #71 - 51 )
