210 <br />Councilman Petersen moved to adopt ORDINANCE NO. 1454 AMENDING SECTION 38.1 OF THE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, DEFINING WATER SERVICE AREAS, seconded by <br />Councilman Arnett and carried on roll call vote, Councilman Henderson being <br />noted absent. <br />DAMAGE CLAIMS1 (1) Marcella L. Paull, 314 Cypress Avenue, for personal injuries <br />alleged to have been caused by fall on faulty sidewalk; (2) Joyce Bianchini, <br />on behalf of Kevin Bianchini, a minor, for personal injuries alleged to have <br />been caused by fall on faulty sidewalk, denied and referred to insurance carrier <br />on motion of Councilman Petersen, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />(MINUTE ORDER #f70 -91-A and #70-91-B) <br />ACCOUNTS PAYABLE Nos. 78247 to 78370, inclusive, totaling $169,665.91, approved for <br />payment on motion of Councilman Keckley, seconded by Councilman Arnett and <br />carried. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br />Redwood City Chamber of Commerce, notice of Groundbreaking <br />ceremony on May 21, 11:30 a.m., for Redwood General Tire <br />building, 1630 Broadway; and notice of grand opening and <br />ribbon cutting for Iron Rail Restaurant (formerly Friar <br />Tuck), between May 24 and 29, notification of definite date <br />will be made. (Copies provided to Council) <br />Notification of application before PUC by Pacific Telephone <br />and Telegraph Co., for authority to increase rates. <br />Councilman Petersen announced that a few months ago the County Board of Supervisors <br />charged the Regional Planning Committee with the responsibility of transportation <br />planning for San Mateo County, and the Executive Board has asked him to serve <br />on that Committee. Mayor Bury congratulated Councilman Petersen on this <br />appointment. <br />Mayor Bury noted Council of Mayors' meeting on Friday, and requested Council to <br />advise him of any matters they felt should be considered. <br />Mayor Bury commented relative to Commission vacancies, noting recommendation in the <br />minutes of Veterans Memorial Commission to appoint, or delete the position left <br />vacant, and indicated it might be possible to reduce the Commission membership <br />to three in the interest of a more effective Commission. <br />Councilman Petersen moved to adjourn, seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried. <br />Meeting adjourned at 8:48 P.M. <br />MARIAN McCRINDLE, City Clerk <br />
