227
City Manager commented that the purpose for again making the presentation
within a short period was to give the public an opportunity to be present
and be heard. He expressed appreciation for the great deal of effort
expended by Ribera. and Sue, together with Planning and Park and Recreation
Commission in assembling the plan, and suggested a staged program could be
started, to be carried over a given number of years.
Councilman Arnett moved to accept the Master Plan as presented, seconded by
Councilman Weymouth. Councilman Henderson questioned the effect of
accepting the Master Plan as it related to the Park and Recreation
recommendation for the whole of the City. Councilman Arnett felt the
plan should not be viewed as exclusive to other plans and saw it as the
optimum goal to eventually be achieved. Councilman Henderson agreed
that a master plan was desirable, but felt perhaps too much organized
activity was planned for the one location, and commented on needs in other
areas.
Mayor Bury recognized the
City would
not
want
to
be committed to proposal
for additional costs and
maintenance,
in
view
of
present budget problems,
C
but indicated the plan answers the need for a general direction in planning
a. community park, and that no priority or time -table had been established.
Motion carried on roll call vote, Councilmen Henderson voting no, and
Keckley and Petersen being noted absent.
Mrs. Doris Thompson, Park and Recreation
Commissioner, 49 Elwood, thanked the Council
for their comments and decision, noting at
last a goal had been established.
Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO, 6306 APPROVING SPECIFICATIONS
FOR ONE ONE -TON TRUCK_ WITH UTILITY BODY AND COMPRESSOR UNIT; AND AUTHORIZING
CITY CLERK TO CALL FOR BIDS THEREFOR, seconded by Councilman Arnett,
Councilman Henderson noted previous situations of calling for bids on
special equipment for which no bids were received.
Superintendent of Buildings and Equipment advised this would be a built up
piece of equipment for a specific purpose, but that it was not unique and
would be an assembly of standard components. The equipment is requested
to eliminate the necessity for towing a large compressor. Motion carried
on roll call vote, Councilmen Keckley and Petersen being noted absent.
Councilman Henderson moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 6307 REVOKING REVOCABLE
PERMIT HERETOFORE ISSUED TO METROPOLITAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION (FOSTER
AND KLEISER DIVISION), seconded by Councilman Arnett, Staff had previously
