269
Councilman Petersen questioned the length of time the acceptance of the sub-
division had been pending.
Mr. Art Allen, Contract Administrator of DMJM, responded
that the project was physically complete, and accepted by
Department of Public Works and DMJM approximately May 20th.
In response to question by Council, City Manager advised the improvements involved
included full improvements, streets, water, storm drains, etc., and further,
that there is currently no construction in the area, and expectation of
resumption will depend upon Washington (decision relating to insured loans).
Councilman Henderson indicated concern that the one-year guarantee may expire
before the improvements can be put to the test. However, City Attorney responded
that the contract provided a one-year guarantee and City therefore would not be
in position to change the requirement
voting no. (MINUTE ORDER #70-107)
Motion carried, Councilman Henderson
ACCEPTANCE of 1969-1970 Dewatering Program GID 1-64. DMJM Staff recommended
acceptance of the project as having been completed in accordance with specifi-
cations. Staff recommended waiver of the 35 -day retention period. City Manager
described this as a service contract which involved pumping storm water in the
system at Redwood Shores and no construction was involved. The service had
been performed and it was felt it was not necessary to retain the percentage,
inasmuch as work was completed. In response to questions, City Manager explained
the process as a series of ditches and collection ponds which feed into sumps,
then to pumping operation.
Councilman Weymouth moved to accept the 1969-1970 Dewatering Program, GID 1-64
and authorize waiver of the 35 -day retention period, seconded by Councilman
Petersen and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #70-108)
Councilman Petersen moved to adopt RESOLUTION N0, 6319 APPROVING PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF EMERALD BRANCH CHANNEL IMPROVEMENTS,
S.F.W.D. R/W TO QUARTZ STREET, AND JEFFERSON BRANCH CHANNEL IMPROVEMENTS,
CROMPTON ROAD TO VERA AVENUE, PROJECT NO, SD -20, GENERAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
NO. 1-65, seconded by Councilman Henderson,
City Manager reported this was the first of three items Staff had been
directed by Council to proceed to get out to bid and under construction this
year.
He
advised that representative of Jenks and Adamson was
present
to
respond
to
any questions. Council indicated concern regarding
problem
areas
with trees.
Mr. Batsford, of Jenks and Adamson, advised a number of
trees will be removed by the improvement, but all were small,
none being larger than 12" eucalyptus.
