Councilman Keckley moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO, 6198 APPROVING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND THE BELMONT FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, PROVIDING FOR EXCHANGE <br />OF FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES, AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION THEREOF, seconded by Councilman <br />Rosselli. <br />The agreement is the same as that previously approved with the Belmont Fire Protection <br />District and part of the mutual aid fire protection service system held with other <br />— adjoining cities. Mayor Bury reported that he had been reminded by the City Manager <br />of a communication recently received from a resident in unincorporated territory, <br />concerning utilizing City water supplies adjacent to other jurisdictions for fire <br />fighting purposes, and questioned whether it would be possible for such areas to <br />install their own hydrants, connecting to City's water sources. City Manager responded <br />that Staff has been in communication for some time with the Woodside Fire Protection <br />District regarding forming an assessment district within the fire district for <br />additional fire fighting water supplies. Motion carried on roll call vote. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO, 6199 ESTABLISHING AND DECLARING <br />DESIGNATED ENTRANCES TO DESIGNATED INTERSECTIONS TO BE STOP ENTRANCES seconded by <br />Councilman Henderson. By annexation, northerly approach of Lakeview day and easterly <br />approach of East Lake Way to Jefferson Avenue became City Streets on November 17, <br />1969. <br />Southbound traffic on Lakeview Way has been controlled by County stop sign. While <br />intersection not within City limits, Jefferson Avenue is a County arterial street, <br />and Staff recommends traffic entering Jefferson from Lakeview Way and East Lake <br />Way be controlled by legalizing existing stop sign at Lakeview Way, and installation <br />of new stop sign at East Lake Way. Council questioned the matter of jurisdiction to <br />enforce compliance of traffic control in the area. Police Chief advised his depart- <br />ment would patrol the City portions of these streets, and further, that the State <br />Code affords them jurisdiction 1000 feet beyond City limits. In addition, the <br />County Sheriff's department and the State Highway Patrol also cover the area, and <br />the 1000 foot extended jurisdiction applies to them, as well, where any violations <br />are observed. Motion carried on roll call vote. <br />Councilman Petersen moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO, 6200 APPROPRIATING $1,400 FROM <br />UNAPPROPRIATED BALANCE OF SALES TAX CAPITAL OUTLAY FUND TO PROVIDE FOR ELECTRICAL <br />ENGINEERING AND CONSULTING SERVICES RELATING TO UNDERGROUNDING OF PUBLIC UTILITY <br />FACILITIES IN CONNECTION WITH PROPOSED WOODSIDE ROAD IMPROVEMENTS, seconded by <br />Councilman Keckley, <br />City Manager advised this appropriation is required to complete the work, and that <br />the Consultant, Mr. Carl P. Martineau, Jr., has done an excellent job for the City. <br />Businesses and home owners in this area now have available to them estimates of three <br />contractors for the undergrounding work, and have been notified by letter, and have the <br />opportunity to view contractors' work and make their selection. It was also suggested <br />that expressions of appreciation to Mr. Martineau might be appropriate, and Mayor <br />_ Bury indicated action of Council implied transmittal of appreciation to Mr. Martineau. <br />Motion carried on roll call vote. <br />
