305
Motion carried on roll call vote, Councilman Rhodes voting no, and Councilman
Keckley being noted absent.
Councilman Henderson moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO, 6331 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING
EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH CALIFORNIA STATE PERSONNEL BOARD FOR CERTAIN
TECHNICAL PERSONNEL SERVICES RELATING TO CLASSIFICATION PLAN AND SALARY
PLAN FOR CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, seconded by Councilman Petersen. City Manager
noted that the agreement provides that it cannot be executed until funds are
available. Motion carried on roll call vote, Councilman Keckley being noted
absent.
Mayor Bury ordered a five minute recess at 10:15 p.m.
Councilman Petersen moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 6332 APPROVING PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF REDWOOD CREEK CHANNEL IMPROVEMENTS -
ALAMEDA. DE LAS PULGAS TO MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE - PROJECT NO, SD -29, GENERAL
IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 1-65, seconded by Councilman Weymouth. Council noted
that apparently only two large trees would be lost, and Deputy City Attorney
added that trees are being removed with the written permission of the property
owners. In the continued discussion, Director of Public Works advised that
the specifications provide that the contractor shall protect the trees, and
is covered with adequate insurance. Councilman Petersen felt that insurance
would be meaningless, once the tree is removed, and suggested that
requirement to replace the tree with a like tree would be more valid. He
felt that provision for penalty should be in the specifications.
Mr. Batsford, representing Jenks & Adamson, stated
that plans and specifications had been set up so that
final aligning will be staked prior to removal of
trees and City approval must be obtained next. Any
tree damage must be mended, patched or replaced.
Public Works Director advised, in response to question, that inspection by the
City is done through Construction Administration and in liaison with Park
Superintendent.
Motion carried on roll call vote, Councilman Keckley being noted absent.
REPORT OF BID OPENING, Access Roads for Water Reservoirs and Street Resurfacing,
Fiscal Year 1969-70.
