306
Staff report indicated funds were included in the 1970-71 budget for
reservoir access roads (Brewster, Easter Cross and Wilmington). Street
resurfacing would be funded from Gas Tax, $18,500; and Street Maintenance
Fund, $34,558. Their recommendation was that (1) the low bid of
L.C. Smith, in the amount of $15,244.55 for access roads to three water
reservoirs be accepted and all other bids rejected; (2) the low bid of
Piombo Corporation, in the amount of $53,058, for street resurfacing, be
accepted and all other bids rejected.
Councilman Petersen moved to adopt RESOLUTION N0, 6333 AWARDING CONTRACTS
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ACCESS ROADS FOR WATER RESERVOIRS AND FOR THE
RESURFACING OF DESIGNATED STREETS; REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS RECEIVED;
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACTS FOR SAID WORK: AND DIRECTING RETURN
OF SECURITY DEPOSITS, seconded by Councilman Arnett and carried on roll
call vote, Councilman Keckley being noted absent.
Councilman Arnett moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 6334 FINDING CERTAIN CITY
OWNED PROPERTY (CAST IRON WATER FITTINGS) SURPLUS; AND AUTHORIZING SALE
THEREOF,
seconded
by
Councilman Henderson.
The fittings
were
of a type
no longer
used by
the
Water Department, and
Assessor
had
set
a value of
$900 of the material. Staff recommended sale of the fittings. Motion
carried on roll call vote, Councilman Keckley being noted absent.
Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION N0, 6335 APPROVING PROPOSED
LEASE AGREEMENT AND AUTHORIZING CALL FOR BIDS FOR LEASE OF CITY -OWNED
PROPERTY, seconded by Councilman Rhodes. Lease agreement for this property
to the Chamber of Commerce has expired, and must be advertised for lease.
The new lease proposal would be on a year to year basis, with automatic
extension provision, and require that maintenance of exterior of the
building be at lessee's expense. Motion carried on roll call vote,
Councilman Keckley being noted absent.
Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 6336 A14ENDING SECTION 3 and
SECTION 3.1 OF THE RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE REDWOOD CITY WATER DEPARTMENT
(PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT) RELATING TO WATER RATES, seconded by Councilman
Petersen. City Auditor -Accountant advised that the rate on 5/8 x 3/4 inch
meter would go from $1.83 to $2.20 and for a 3/4 inch meter from $2.56 to
$3.08, and estimated for residential use this *,could mean increase of
approximately $7.00 annually. The increase reflects other costs in addition
to increase in rates by the San Francisco Water Department. He added that
the last increase was in 1961. Motion carried on roll call vote, Councilman
Kecl=ley being noted absent.
