322
cities are to authorize inclusion in proposed agreement. Councilman Arnett questioned
Item 11 which related to "other agreements between members", and City Librarian advised
this was inserted at the request of Daly City because of a pre-existing contract between
them and the County dealing with exchange of services, and does not involve City of
Redwood City. Motion carried on roll call vote, Councilman Henderson being noted absent,
BID OPENING, Sale of Surplus Cast Iron Lead Joint Water Fittings
Staff report had been submitted to Council in which it was stated no bids had been
received. City Manager advised that subsequent to time of the bid opening and the de-
termination that no bids had been received, the City Assessor reappraised the material
at scrap value of $200,00,
In the opinion of Staff, the fittings should be sold as a single item for scrap, based
on economics of manpower involved, and City Manager requested Council permission to
dispose of the items in negotiated sale, being of a value under $250,00,
Councilman Petersen moved to accept recommendation of Staff, seconded by Councilman
Keckley and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #70-139)
Bridge Parkway Bridge connections and associated work, GID 1-E4
City Manager reported plans and specifications had not been signed by the Director
of Public Works because of a difference of opinion concerning access for Bridge
Parkway into the parcel immediately to the right of the turn onto the Bridge from
Marine World Parkway, presently planned as site for a service station. In the
plans as submitted by DMJM, a 50' wide opening is provided off Bridge Parkway
into this site, and conforms to arrangement worked out at the time the parcel map
was considered. He indicated that the Public Works Director preferred that there
not be a direct opening onto the Parkway, but rather a right turn pocket be
constructed in Bridge Parkway to allow further turn onto this parcel, He asked
Council for guidance,
Council asked for recommendation of DMJM, which City Manager responded that it was
to provide a 50 -foot opening directly from the Parkway into this site. At present,
it was not definite what the on-site plan would be,
Mr.
James Reiter, of DMJM,
reviewed for
Council the area
in
question by reference to
a projected
drawing,
City Manager noted another concern was possibility of problems with someone coming
off Marine World Parkway only to find he was not where he wanted to be and attempt
to get out. Police Chief concurred, and indicated he considered offset curbs a
traffic hazard, except where they are necessary to feed traffic onto a major
artery, He recommended the plan as submitted by DMJM.
