8 013 8 Mayor Bury responded that from the intent of the motion, the Park Superintendent would continue to oversee the building, and ultimately the responsibility rests with the City Manager, City Manager added for internal cleanliness and readiness for use, the Park Superintendent has been charged with the responsibility. Maintenance of outside of the building is charged to the Superintendent of Buildings and Maintenance. Mr. Tessendorff reported how every year "the swallows come back to the Veterans Memorial Building", and that for several years he had been concerned as to how to prevent — willful destruction of the nests, and asked that something be done to protect the young birds. Mayor Bury recognized these concerns, but noted it is difficult to legislate consideration of other people or for wildlife. Mr. Tessendorff suggested that a 1" x 10" nailed to the rafters to encourage the birds to nest elsewhere. Councilman Petersen related a similar experience while on an outing with his family, and felt it should be possible for Council to pass an ordinance providing for penalties for persons caught in this kind of abuse, so that there could be recourse under the law. He indicated he would like to see such an ordinance brought back for Council consideration, and asked if it would be possible within two weeks, August 17th. Adams, 2230 Madison Avenue, for property damages alleged to have been caused by City -owned and operated vehicle, denied and referred to insurance carrier on motion of Councilman Petersen, seconded by Councilman Rhodes and carried. COMMUNICATIONS: Delores Gay, expressing thanks to Council for approving recommendations of Traffic Committee relative to median openings on Woodside Road. (Copies to Council) Jean Fassler, Chairman, County Board of Supervisors, concerning meeting on subject of "Cities -County Agreement regarding Solid Waste Management within SanMateo County", to be held July 31st at 9:00 a.m., and inviting representative to be present. (Copies to Council) Mayor Bury indicated that Sidney Herkner was expected to be City's representative at this meeting, and suggested waiting to hear from Mr. Herkner.
