334
Elaine Marcus, Co-ordinator for Peace Center of San Mateo
County, 122 Second Avenue., San Mateo, asking that one
minute of silence be observed on Hiroshima Day. (Copies
to Council)
Juan F. Hernandez (no address), concerning Mexican -American
involvement in Police affairs. (Copies to be submitted to
Council)
Public Utilities Commission concerning Southern Pacific
intention to discontinue sale of tickets Saturday, and
change ticket selling hours Monday through Friday.
(Copies to Council)
Councilman Weymouth noted the earlier request from the Library Board concerning
staffing, and inquired as to the recommendation. Mayor Bury advised he had
discussed the matter with the Librarian and members of the Board, and suggested
holding up implementation until Councilman Henderson returned, in view of her
concern with Library hours, and the fact that she represents Council to
Personnel. In additional discussion, it was felt by Council that under
accepted procedure, the matter properly should not come directly before
Council, but referred by the City Manager if he feels it is appropriate to
do so.
Councilman Keckley moved that the correspondence received from the Library
Board of Trustees be referred to City Manager for recommendation, seconded
by Councilman Petersen and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #70-147)
Councilman Petersen noted the City Manager's report on the Mexicano-Americano
Fiesta, and City Manager advised that if Council approves the report, Staff
would be able to carry through from there. Councilman Petersen moved to
approve the report and authorize implementation of the recommendations,
seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #70-148)
Councilman Petersen moved to adjourn by adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 6352
COMMEMORATING THE MEMORY OF BERTHOLD L. WERDER, seconded by Councilman Keckley
and carried on roll call vote, Councilman Henderson being noted absent.
Meeting adjourned at 8:20 P.M.
MARIAN McCRINDLE, City Clerk
