<br />Redwood City Council
<br />August 3, 1970 7:30 P.M.
<br />Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilman Weymouth.
<br />Invocation led by Reverend Dwight A. Hoelscher, First Congregational Church,
<br />ON ROLL CALL, the following were noted present: Councilmen Dixon Arnett, Mary W.
<br />Henderson, Paul C. Keckley, Herbert G. Petersen, William C. Rhodes, Ray A. Weymouth,
<br />Mayor Robert H. Bury, and City Clerk Marian McCrindle. Also noted present were
<br />Assistant City Manager Henry V. Burget, Acting Manager, City Attorney David E.
<br />Schricker, Police Chief John R. McDonald, Jr., Fire Chief John Keller, Director
<br />of Public Works J. Louis Scherer, Chief Building Official Charles Gyselbrecht,
<br />City Auditor -Accountant Jack Ference, City Treasurer Harriet Drivon, Planning
<br />Director Ken Schroeter, and Secretary Frances Reggetts,
<br />Councilman Keckley moved to approve, as mailed, Minutes of Regular Meeting of
<br />July 27, 1970, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried.
<br />Loyalty Oath was administered by City Clerk to Mr. Mitchell Webber, reappointed as
<br />member of the Port Commission, after which Mayor Bury presented Certificate of
<br />Appointment with expressions of appreciation on behalf of the community and
<br />Council for willingness to serve, and noting Mr. Webber had previously served
<br />with distinction on the Planning Commission,
<br />COMMUNITY PROGRESS REPORT, Assistant City Manager advised that progress in Redwood
<br />Shores would be reported on by Mr. James D. Reiter, of DMJM, after which a brief
<br />report would be made on a number of projects in the remainder of the City.
<br />Mr. Reiter reported that weather had been very good and no
<br />construction time was lost; Peninsula Parkway Unit #1 was
<br />completed, and three projects under way: Marlin #1 and
<br />Marlin #2, and Bridge. One project, Bridge Connections,
<br />will be going out to bid. The Seismic Advisory Board had
<br />met in July and assigned to themselves specific duties
<br />which they will report on at their next meeting on August 18,
<br />On July 28, Mr. Quentin Wells, of FHA, Washington, visited
<br />the site and familiarized himself with the grounds, then
<br />met with representatives in San Francisco of FHA.
<br />The Bridge is ahead of schedule, being 88% complete,
<br />with time elapsed of about 71%, and it is expected to
<br />open ahead of schedule. This project ties to the
<br />project for Bridge Connection soon to go to bid.
<br />General engineering and management work at the moment
<br />is restricted to planning and the next bond sale.
