Councilman Henderson referred to her report, in which it was indicated annual dues
increase being recommended amounted to an average of 6.45%. However, City's
increase would approximate substantially less, at 3.8%, or from $1,792 to $1,860.
Councilman Arnett moved to authorize the ABAG Delegate to support the budget
as proposed and vote for approval of the 1970-71 budget and assessment schedule,
seconded by Councilman Keckley. Motion carried. (MINUTE ORDER #70-29)
Councilman Henderson added that the recent first election of officers resulted in
an excellent voting turnout of 81%, and in the election of Ignazio A. Vella,
Supervisor, Sonoma County, as President, and Ronald R. James, Mayor of San Jose,
as Vice President,
REPORT OF BID OPENING Equipment and Vehicles.
One 1 -Ton Cab and Chassis and Two 2 -Ton Dump Trucks for the Sewer and Street
Departments. The following bids were received:
E -Z Davies
Prindle International
$14,637.46
14,550.22
A third bid received was disqualified since the firm failed to bid on a fleet
basis, as provided for in the specifications. Funds in the amount of $13,300
are budgeted, with the balance available in the contingency fund. Staff recommended
award to Prindle International, Inc., the low bidder.
Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO, 6216 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR FURNISHING
OF ONE ONE -TON CAB AND CHASSIS AND TWO TWO -TON DUMP TRUCKS, seconded by Councilman
Petersen. Motion carried on roll call vote.
Fire Department Van. The following bids were received:
Davies Chevrolet
Towne Motor
$ 2,828.72
2,851.02
Both bids contained exceptions which were reviewed with Fire Chief Lodi. Inasmuch
as the Davies' unit did not provide an emergency brake warning light, and delivery
date was not assured until after April 25, when a new model van will be intro-
duced, and since the bid difference is slight, Staff recommends award of bid to
Towne Motor, who guarantee delivery by April 15. Funds in the amount of $2,750
are budgeted and required additional amount of $101.02 is available from the
contingency fund.
Councilman Petersen moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO, 6217 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR FURNISH-
ING OF OPE TRUCK (VAN TYPE), seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried on roll
call vote.
Hydraulic Sewer Cleaner for Department of Public Works. The following bids were
received:
Cues, Inc. $15,424.50
Prindle International 16,919.70
Southwest Flexible 17,321.85
Western Traction Company 18,798.15
Pacific Pipe tool 20,580.00
All bidders took disqualifying exceptions to the specifications and it was
recommended that bids be rejected. City Manager advised that Staff intends to
rework the specifications after a conference with the manufacturers, before
readvertising for bids.
