104
Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO, 6218 REJECTING ALL BIDS
RECEIVED FOR FURNISHING OF HYDRAULIC SEWER CLEANER, seconded by Councilman
Petersen and carried on roll call vote.
Councilman Keckley moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO, 6219 APPROVING SPECIFICATIONS
FOR ONE AUTOMOBILE; AND AUTHORIZING CITY CLERK TO CALL FOR BIDS THEREFOR,
seconded by Councilman Arnett. Prior advertising on this equipment produced
no bids. Local dealers have been contacted and have indicated bids will be
submitted. It was suggested by Council that, in the future, contacting the
dealers on the first intention to call for bids might obviate the need to
readvertise. City Manager reported that the dealers were reluctant to bid on
only one unit, and further, had assumed from the designation for the Police
Unit that it called for special police package; however, this equipment is
standard automobile. Motion carried on roll call vote.
Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION N0, 6220 APPROVING CONTRACT DOCU-
MENTS FOR TWO FIRE ENGINES (1500 G.P.M.PUMPERS); AND AUTHORIZING CITY CLERK
TO CALL FOR BIDS THEREFOR, seconded by Councilman Keckley.
Staff report noted that funds are available in the Equipment Replacement
Fund for one replacement unit, and the second unit is covered in Capital
Improvement Fund under Fire Protection. It was questioned by Councilman
Henderson where the added unit will be stationed, and Fire Chief Lodi advised
that fourteen to sixteen months are required to get delivery on the engines,
which will coincide with the Department's expansion to Redwood Shores. Currently
the residents in Redwood Shores will be protected by means of an agreement
with the Belmont Fire Protection District. He pointed out the serious traffic
difficulties for equipment to respond from the existing City Fire Stations, -
particularly at peak traffic hours, and the agreement with Belmont alleviates
the problem. Motion carried on roll call vote.
Mayor Bury commended the Fire Chief and his Department for their courageous
and outstanding professional efforts in preventing a serious disaster involving
fuel spillage at the Port.
Councilman Keckley moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO, 6221 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF REDWOOD CITY FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE PUBLIC INTEREST AND NECESSITY
REQUIRE THE ACQUISITION AND CONSTRUCTION BY THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY OF A PUBLIC
IMPROVEMENT, NAMELY, SANITARY SEWERAGE FACILITIES, IN AND UPON THAT CERTAIN
REAL PROPERTY HEREIN DESCRIBED; THAT THE ACQUISITION OF RIGHTS OF WAY AND
EASEMENTS IN SAID PROPERTY HEREIN DESCRIBED IS NECESSARY FOR SAID PUBLIC
IMPROVEMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO BRING AN ACTION IN EMINENT DOMAIN
TO ACQUIRE SAID REAL PROPERTY AND TO APPLY FOR AN ORDER OF IMMEDIATE POSSESSION
OF SAID REAL PROPERTY; AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
DEPOSIT MONEY FOR IMMEDIATE POSSESSION OF SAID REAL PROPERTY, seconded by
Councilman Rosselli. Parcels involved are located between the City Sewage
Treatment Plant and the San Carlos Airport site and are needed for the City -
owned portions of the SCSP sewerage facilities, extending from the Treatment
Plant to the point where the City's line connects onto the Joint Facilities
portion. It was explained there is no participation involved with this
transaction. Motion carried on roll call vote.
Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt ORDINANCE N0, 1446 APPROPRIATING $92,927 FROM
BUDGETED RESERVE OF GENERAL FUND, $7,092 FROM WATER FUND, $3,131 FROM SEWER
RENTAL FUND, $261 FROM PARKING DISTRICT NO, 1 REVENUE FUND, AND $258 FROM
MARINA REVENUE FUND, RESPECTIVELY; FOR PURPOSES OF PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT
OF SALARIES AND OTHER EMPLOYEE SERVICES FOR DESIGNATED CITY DEPARTMENTS, _
seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried on roll call vote.
