He felt that greater effort should be
made to restore road surfaces in order that businesses would not be adversely
affected.
He was critical of PG&E, in particular, noting that the major proportion of
trenching is being done by that company, and requested that the situation be
investigated. City Manager advised he would contact the State's resident
Engineer, as well as PG&E, to bring the matter to their attention. Motion
carried.
Councilman Arnett moved to adopt RESOLUTION N0, 6229 APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICA-
TIONS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE WOODSIDE ROAD STREET LIGHTING PROJECT-
ALAMEDA DE LAS PULGAS TO LOCUST STREET; AND AUTHORIZING CITY CLERK TO CALL FOR
BIDS THEREFOR, seconded by Councilman Henderson. The project provides for re-
moval of all existing street lights and replacement with ornamental. street
lighting system, to be connected to underground power lines presently being
installed in conjunction with the Woodside Road widening project. Motion
carried on roll call vote.
Councilman Petersen moved to introduce Ordinance appropriating $7,000 for Harbor
Boulevard Street Improvements; and $81,000 to provide for sanitary sewerage
system and related facilities to serve Municipal Marina and Port area, seconded
by Councilman Rosselli. Staff report stated plans and specifications had been
prepared by Department of Public Works for the improvement of Harbor Boulevard,
between Bayshore Freeway and the Municipal Marina, including a sewage force
main. A pumping station was designed by Jenks and Adamson to serve the Marina
and Port area. Responding to question as to source of the funds, Auditor -
Accountant advised that $7,000 would come out of Special Gas Tax Street Improve-
ment Fund, of which there is a balance of $334,779• $81,000 would come from
the Sewer Fund, in which there is a balance of $659,392. Motion carried.
Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO, 6230 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING
EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY FOR COST PARTIC-
IPATION IN CONNECTION WITH HARBOR BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENTS, seconded by Council-
man Keckley. The agreement with Pacific Gas and Electric Company provides for
reimbursement to the City of 50% of the cost of a concrete protective slab
over their existing 8" gas main. Motion carried on roll call vote.
Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION N0, 6231 APPROVING PLANS AND SPECI-
FICATIONS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE HARBOR BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENTS-BAYSHORE
FREEWAY TO MUNICIPAL MARINA; AND AUTHORIZING CITY CLERK TO CALL FOR BIDS
THEREFOR, seconded by Councilman Petersen. Councilman Henderson questioned
whether plans included landscaping as discussed at 9udget time. City Manager
reported that it did not, stating there were some problems with Southern
Pacific right-of-way on Harbor Boulevard. Also, that because of soil condi-
tions, it was anticipated that planters would be utilized for the landscaping,
and that it will be accomplished within the current construction year. Motion
carried on roll call vote.
ACCEPTANCE of Parkway Fencing, Section 1 of Bridge and Peninsula Parkways, was
approved subject to the usual one-year guarantee of material and workman-
ship, on motion of Councilman Keckley, seconded by Councilman Arnett.
