141
Mr. Sidney Herkner, 55 Turnsworth, advised he was pleased to be
on the committee with Mr. Flkus, noting that Judge Dematteis
also was a member. He noted he had also been in the Council
Committee to study traffic problems in connection with the pro-
posed college, and being familiar with the problems, recognized
they were not to be underestimated. However, felt they can be
solved. He considered it fortunate that the College Site Com-
mittee had chosen Redwood City, and indicated that with coopera-
tion of Council and the College Board, will have the college
sooner than it appeared possible six months ago. He urged 100%
approval.
Motion carried on roll call vote. Councilman Henderson suggested reactivation of the
Council College Committee to act as liaison with the Site Committee. Mayor Bury agreed
and indicated this should be done. (Memo 3/18/70)
Because of the lateness of the hour, and to accommodate those present in the interest of
the matter, Mayor Bury requested comments from the City Manager regarding PROBE
financial assistance.
City Manager referred to the Council PROBE Committee report which had been included
in the Council's mailing, which reviewed the request by Mr. Clifford Boxley, dated
February 6, for financial assistance for their Community Center, in the amount of
$8,000 for their forthcoming budget year. He reported that Mr. Boxley had attended the
Committee meeting of March 10 and explained disposition of the previous $5,000 allo-
cation, now expended.
The PROBE fiscal year ends March 31, and indicated they would be without funds to con-
tinue certain programs. The Committee recommended that a resolution be prepared pro-
viding $2,000, for approval by Council on March 23rd, and that consideration be made
to provide $3,000 on July 1, and $5,000 payable in March 1971,
Councilman Rosselli moved to accept the report of the Council PROBE Committee, and that
the Resolution transferring funds be placed on the agenda for action on March 23, 1970;
seconded by Councilman Keckley. Motion carried.
time, Second
(MINUTE ORDER #70-50)
for
t of
Staff report indicated Agreement of January 10, 1969 called for completion of decora-
tive fence along the rear portion of all lots on Block 3, fronting on Lonesome Pine
Road. Challenge Developments, Inc. had requested a one-year extension of time for com-
pletion of the fencing and the bonding company approval has been received. Staff
recommended approval for extension of time as requested.
Councilman Weymouth moved to approve request for extension of time, Second Supplemental
Agreement for Improvement of Farm Hill Estates #2, subject to approval of bonding
company, seconded by Councilman Arnett.
Councilman Henderson indicated relectance to approve the extension of time, noting that
in January 1969, a similar request had been made and approved by resolution. City
Attorney responded relative to concern that the present action is by motion, while the
previous one was by resolution, advising that either method is proper, and that ap-
proval of extension was in point of procedure simply a matter of Council discretion.
