Johnson , President , Leslie Properties , Inc . , reciting the in- <br /> volvement of their property and salt operation in this plan and urging Council to <br /> withhold its approval pending a searching , professional feasibility study of the <br /> entire plan to evaluate its economic , as well as its ecological and recreational <br /> aspects . <br /> Councilman Henderson reported on the 22 letters which had been had delivered to her <br /> from students at the Roy Cloud School all favoring this Refuge Plan , Mayor Bury <br /> also noted the number of communications which he had received on this subject be - T _ <br /> sides a note from the Green Foothills organization indicating their desire to be <br /> heard on this subject . <br /> City Manager advised of the several Staff meetings which had been held with re - <br /> presentatives of groups urging establishment of this Refuge and placed on Council ' s <br /> agenda this evening for a full presentation at the request of the several Council <br /> members who had also attended these meetings in order that full Council might be <br /> made aware of facts firsthand . <br /> The following representatives appeared to present their views in favor of the es - <br /> tablishment of this Wildlife Refuge , together with photo slides being shown depict - <br /> ing the wildlife present in the area proposed for such a Refuge : <br /> Mrs . Maryanne Danielson , County Naturalist Dr . James Heath , <br /> Professor at San Jose State . <br /> Council questioned possibility of observatory areas being made available to general <br /> public if Refuge created ; possible compatibility of recreation areas adjoining <br /> wildlife sanctuary , such as golf course , suggested for this area ; possibility to <br /> change habit patterns of wildlife , inasmuch as topography of land in this area had <br /> been subject to change in the past by filling operations , etc . <br /> Mr . Robert Shields , Federal Bureau of Sports Fishery and Wildlife . <br /> Council questioned guidelines which might be established for this wildlife area <br /> to provide use by public ; whose responsibility for maintenance of dikes , etc . <br /> Mr .
