Request to appoint Seasonal Construction Inspectors and Zoning and Planning Technician at other than the first step of the Salary Range , presented for consideration . Staff reported on problems in recruiting Seasonal Construction Inspectors and neces - sity of paying current rate of approximately $ 800 per month , which is equivalent to the second step in salary range , and requested authorization to hire two well qualified Construction Inspectors at the Second Step . It was stated Personnel Board had approved Staff ' s recommendation . It was also reported a well qualified Planning and Zoning Technician was available , after a difficult recruitment period and eligible list being established , if hiring authorized at Third Step in order that he not be forced to take a cut in pay from his present position . Councilman Petersen moved to approve recommendations and authorize hiring personnel as stated at Second and Third Steps , respectively , for two Construction Inspectors and Planning and Zoning Technician , seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried ( MINUTE ORDER #69- 119 ) Councilman Weymouth moved to introduce Ordinance amending Section 36 of Ordinance No . 1382 , the Salary Ordinance of the City of Redwood City , relating to position of Police Chief , seconded by Councilman Keckley . Staff reported this ordinance would provide for an annual salary of 619 , 600 for the new Police Chief . Motion carried . Councilman Petersen moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6016 CONSENTING TO DETACHMENT OF ANNEXED TERRITORY FROM WOODSIDE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT - EASTVIEW ANNEXATION NO . 1 , seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried on roll call vote , Councilman Rosselli being noted absent .
