2R8
computations for interpretation, etc . , in order Council study of the report
might be aided . Mr . Johnson advised of the other informational material and
data which was available through their offices which might be of aid to Staff
during their review of this report and their willingness to assist further in
evaluation and interpretation studies with Staff , as they had previously met
with Downtown Committee and Chamber of Commerce representatives .
Mayor Bury acknowledged Mr . Green , of the Downtown Business Assocation and
Jerry Chandler , of the Chamber of Commerce , and questioned whether report had
been submitted to these two groups for their study, and when Staff review
and recommendations might be expected for return to Council . City Manager
again commented on the new aspects relating to this traffic study as a
result of the abandonment procedures requested by Ampex on Douglas Avenue
and of the meetings already held with PG&E and PT&T representatives concern-
ing this matter , on which Staff expected to make a recommendation to Council
shortly .
Decisions and recommendations are to be made by Staff for Council considera -
tion regarding Middlefield Road and its future alignment with regard to the
Civic Center site planning . These items must be resolved , since they are
tied in with the Traffic Study recommendations to be made .
Council expressed concern over any delay in implementing desirable changes ,
to which Mr . Johnson advised report would not be outdated for a long
period of time and now the analysis of traffic patterns could be applied
to any street , or combination of streets .
City Manager asked that Staff be given a thirty day period to digest the
report and stated Mr . Johnson would be contacted on the new aspects which
needed to be covered by the traffic study . After Mayor Bury had thanked
Mr . Johnson for the depth and quality of his presentation , Councilman
Arnett moved to place this matter on Council ' s Agenda of February 24th , for
a further discussion at that time , seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried
( MINUTE ORDER #69- 16 ) .
PUBLIC HEARING , Resolution of Intention to abandon portions of public streets ,
Charter , Chew and Manzanita Streets , declared open and affidavits of publica -
tion and posting ordered filed .
It was noted portions of streets to be abandoned were in the vicinity of
S & W Fine Food Company and related to the widening of Middlefield Road .
City Manager advised previous abandonment procedure for these streets had been
terminated because of protest by the utility companies due to not having
adequate utility easements retained , but that these had now been provided
for and the companies were satisfied . There being no communications or oral
protest , Councilman Weymouth moved to close the public hearing , seconded by
Councilman Rosselli and carried .
sm O •ca
