<br /> AS REVENUE TO CARRY ON THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF SAID CITY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR
<br /> 1969 - 1970 , TO PAY THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF SAID CITY FALLING DUE AND BECOMING
<br /> PAYABLE DURING THE SAID FISCAL YEAR TOGETHER WITH THE INTEREST THEREON, TO MAIN -

<br /> Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6085 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR CON-
<br /> STRUCTION OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTSPOR REDWOOD CITY GENERAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO .
<br /> 1 -64 , RELATING TO MARLIN SUBDIVISION NO . 2 ; AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACT FOR
<br /> SAID WORK ; AND , DIRECTING RETURN OF SECURITY DEPOSIT , seconded by Councilman
<br /> Arnett .
<br /> Staff reported results of this bid opening had been previously submitted to Council
<br /> and that Staff and DMJM , after analysis of bids , recommend award to the lowest
<br /> responsible bidder , Hood Corporation , in the amount of $885 , 143 . 00 . It was also noted
<br /> that Leslie Properties , Inc . , by letter of intent on file , has agreed to pay the
<br /> sum of $28)4 , 000in installments on demand as progress payments become due on this
<br /> project , funds representing Leslie ' s participation in the area of reclamation and
<br /> drainage ( storm drains , landscaping , subdrains , public utility trenching , and
<br /> levee riprap ) .
<br /> Councilman Henderson asked that an explanation be given for Council being requested
<br /> to take action on the several items listed on this meeting ' s Agenda for Redwood
<br /> Shores rather than at the next regular meeting of Council .
<br /> Mayor Bury stated he had concurred with recommendation of City Manager that these
<br /> several items be included for action at this meeting , City Manager stated since
<br /> report of bid , analysis , and recommendation available , it was felt it was incumbent
<br /> on District to get construction into ground on all possible developments , toward
<br /> the end of producing the highest assessed valuation as of March of next year for
<br /> benefit of both bondholders and the project in general . He felt every step necessary
<br /> to expedite award of bids , commensurate with good judgment , should be taken in order
<br /> to have contractor on the ground at earliest possible moment to take advantage of
<br /> every construction day possible . He advised DMJM and City Attorney concurred with
<br /> recommendation of Staff for this award . Motion carried on roll call vote , Council -
<br /> man Henderson voting no , Councilman Keckley and Petersen being noted absent .
<br /> AWARD OF BID , Bridge Parkway Bridge , GID 1 -64 . City Manager ' s previously submitted
<br /> report of bid opening to Council advised of the bids whichlad been received and the
<br /> recommendation of DMJM and Staff that award be made to the lowest responsible
<br /> bidder , Liton Construction Company , in the amount of$ 1 , 025 , 993 • City Manager
<br /> stated same general commitment related to this project , as incumbent to get as
<br /> much assessed valuation into the ground prior to March 1st of next year , as a different
<br /> situation now exists with people living in the District and to the extent if District
<br /> fails to get assessed valuation predicted , then tax rate of citizens residing there
<br /> will be affected .
<br /> He noted that Bridge Parkway Bridge is part of the 1969 Construction Program and that
