449 <br /> his contact with County Park Department , they have no plans for County recreation <br /> or park area in the unincorporated area . <br /> Mayor Bury reviewed briefly the meetings which were now being held by those concerned <br /> with the problems in this area , and proposals which are now being discussed . <br /> Further discussion held concerning possibility of annexing this area and problems <br /> which would be involved should this take place . <br /> In response to further discussion by Commissioner Knecht regarding a golf course , <br /> City Manager advised of the meeting which County Manager is to set up with <br /> John Lilly , Land Manager for all San Francisco PUC properties to discuss the <br /> proposed golf course location , but reminded delay of route of. Junipero Serra <br /> had also delayed this planning , and now perhaps planning could proceed . <br /> City <br /> In reply to question of the golf course once proposed for Redwood Shores , Manager <br /> advised General Plan still shows a substantial golf course area on Bair Island , <br /> but what ultimate development will be is not known . He stated park land acquisition <br /> policy had not changed since established for Redwood Shores . <br /> Commissioner Stuart questioned Redwood Shores water oriented program for marinas <br /> and other water oriented recreation . Commissioner Thompson discussed planning <br /> for pedestrian and bike route through Hetch -Hetchy right -of -way for which funds <br /> had been requested in the Budget but denied . <br /> Commissioner Larry Schenck concurred with expressions of concern between Commission <br /> and Council , but specifically questioned Council ' s approvalof the Government <br /> Affairs Program without conferring with their Commission , whereby each Council - <br /> man and Commissioner would have a student delegate . Inasmuch as this subject <br /> had been studied thoroughly by them, and it was their Commission ' s firm conviction <br /> that two students would be ample for participation in the Commission ' s meetings , <br /> and had approved this standard . <br /> Mayor Bury stated other. Commissions involved had attended meeting with Council <br /> Committee , and that he was unaware that Park and Recreation Commission not in <br /> accord with the program as now approved . Commissioner Knecht advised he had been <br /> invited to attend this meeting but had not beer4ble to . It was also noted by <br /> Council that no opposition had been expressed during discussion of this program <br /> at a regular Council meeting , and it was hoped program would be effective and <br /> worthwhile , but also subject to change as needed . <br /> City Manager also noted , in reply to Commission ' s reference to lack of Budget <br /> considerations , that the current Budget for 1969 - 1970 had allocations in the <br /> amount of $960 , 000 to park and recreation oriented activities , the fourth largest <br /> sum in the Budget , which he felt to be a significant contribution by City to park <br /> and recreation . <br /> CL :3 '89 <br />
