He acknowledged fact subdivision of this parcel would legally permit
a duplex on each lot . Motion carried on roll call vote , Councilman Keckley being
noted absent .
Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt Resolution granting exceptions to certain pro -
visions of Chapter 30 of. the Code of the City of Redwood City , being the sub - __
division regulations of the City of Redwood City - - Redwood Shores Steinberger
Subdivision , seconded by Councilman Arnett .
On question , Staff requested to explain why so many exceptions being requested
in Redwood Shores development , in view of General Plan which had been made for
this whole development .
City Manager stated main reason for the many requests for exceptions concerned
cul -de -sac lengths being at variance with the present Zoning Ordinance require -
ment permitting only cul -de -sacs of 250 ' length , whereas most of cul -de -sac
planning for Redwood Shores for various reasons required more length than in
other conventional subdivisions ,
Planning Director also explained that longer cul -de - sacs widened in Redwood Shores
Development for traffic flow and of the topography presenting problems because
of slough areas located intermittently throughout flat areas . City Manager noted
only two exceptions were being requested to the Zoning Ordinance . Other
specific conditions imposed for this subdivision by Staff had been accepted by
the developer because both thought they would result in a better subdivision .
Planning Director also advised of the careful consideration given to fire safety
and access for equipment on these long cul -de -sacs in the project , and all having
been approved as to design by the Fire Chief .
s& 8 '69
