469
processed by the County Engineer ' s office through the Board of Supervisors .
It was also noted this project will supplement the existing 30 " intercepter
sewer parallel to Veterans Boulevard and is designed to handle the increased
sewage flows from both the Fair Oaks Sewer Maintenance District and the City of
Redwood City in this particular area ; estimated construction cost is $ 139 , 460 ,
plus engineering and contingencies for which adequate funds are provided in the
GID 3 -65 bond funds and by the aforementioned contribution by the Sewer
Maintenance District . Motion carried on roll call vote , Councilman Weymouth being
noted absent .
Councilman Keckley moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6115 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING
SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND THE FAIR OAKS SEWER
MAINTENANCE DISTRICT RELATING TO VETERANS BOULEVARD INTERCEPTING SEWER IMPROVE-
MENTS , seconded by Councilman Arnett and carried on roll call vote , Councilman
Weymouth being noted absent .
Request to waive bidding procedure and authorize purchase of Parking Meters , approved
on motion of Councilman Petersen , seconded by Councilman Keckley .
Staff reported in order to have the same type of meters throughout the City , it
had been Council policy to waive the formal bidding procedures and negotiate the
best possible price for Park-O -Meters ; that 125 meters are needed at this timq'fo
complete replacement of worn -out units ; price had been quoted at $ 56 . 00 each
complete , FOB , Redwood City , plus Sales Tax , totaling $7 , 350 . 00 and that $ 11 , 110
had been appropriated in the current Budget for this purpose .
In reply to whether additional purchases were anticipated from total appropriation
of funds , City Clerk advised inventory of meters had indicated 125 were needed
now to complete replacements and that this would leave 25 meters to use for re -
pairing broken meters , and additional meters would not necessarily be needed
unless parking facilities should be expanded .
Councilman Henderson questioned policy of maintaining the same type meters since
her review of trade magazine articles is contrary to this theory and questioned
whether this aspect had been investigated by Staff . City Manager advised Staff
was aware of recent magazine articles on parking meters , but at this point would
contend that with a single City repairman comprising the full servicing of our
parking meters , it was best tolave one type of mechanism and one inventory of
parts even though more cost might be involved in purchase , Motion carried ,
Councilman Henderson voting no ( MINUTE ORDER #69 -185 ) .
Appointment of Tree Trimmer at Third Step of Salary Range approved on motion of
Councilman Petersen , seconded by Councilman Keckley .
Staff reported Personnel Board and Staff recommend appointment at this Third
Step because of the difficulty experienced in recruiting for a qualified trained
applicant and of the opportunity now available for such an appointment being made
to a well -qualified person with several years of tree trimming experience if
appointment can be made at the Third Step . Motion carried ( MINUTE ORDER #69 -186 ) .
ap Gg
