Uhl. ig , Redeemer Lutheran Church . <br /> ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present : Councilmen Dixon Arnett , Mary W . <br /> Henderson , Paul C . Keckley, Herbert G . Petersen , John S . Rosselli , Ray A . <br /> Weymouth , and City Clerk Helen C . Moore . Mayor Robert H . Bury noted absent , <br /> Vice-Mayor Herbert G . Petersen presiding . Also noted present were City Manager <br /> Howard C . Ullrich , City Attorney David E . Schricker , Assistant City Manager <br /> Henry V . Burget , Police Chief John R . McDonald , Deputy Fire Chief John Keller , <br /> Director of Public Works J . Louis Scherer , Auditor-Accountant Jack Ference , <br /> and Deputy City Clerk Marian McCrindle . <br /> Councilman Keckley moved to approve Minutes of Regular Meeting of September 22 , <br /> 1969 and Minutes of Executive Meeting of September 22 , 1969 , as Trailed , <br /> seconded by Councilman Arnett and carried . <br /> Government Affairs Program . <br /> Mr . Richard Payton , Project Coordinator for the Social Studies Department , <br /> Sequoia High School introduced the Senior High School students chosen to participate <br /> in this program . He explained how from 120 volunteers , students were selected. <br /> by High School ' s own student governing organizations , resulting in appointment <br /> of 26 interns and 26 alternates assigned to Council and the other Commissions <br /> of the City . He felt group selected had been well chosen and are representative <br /> of the whole community in variety of background . He advised also that the <br /> program had been approved by the Associated Student Congress and action taken <br /> by them to underwrite the cost of the program in cooperation with the City <br /> Council , and advised that each intern is committed to fifteen hours participation <br /> for credit . He then introduced the students present and announced their <br /> assignment to each of the Councilmen as follows : <br /> Dennis Capps - Councilman Rosselli <br /> Patrick Hager - Councilman Petersen <br /> Cornel Harper - Councilman Keckley <br /> Carol Hoffman - Councilman Henderson <br /> Richard Rollins - Councilman Arnett <br /> Steven Shimek - Mayor Bury <br /> George Vega - Councilman Weymouth <br /> Vice-Mayor Petersen welcomed the group , and each intern was seated with his <br /> Council counterpart , after presenting personal credential letters . Councilman <br /> Keckley reviewed how this program had been envisioned and now created in the <br /> hopes of bridging gap between local government organization and students residing <br /> within our community and felt program would be of benefit to both student and <br /> City officials . <br /> Monthly Progress Report - Redwood Shores . <br /> City Manager stated monthly progress report would be made by Mr . Reiter and <br /> Mr . Caryl , of DMJM , and that he would thereafter report on the telephone <br /> conversation he had held with Congressman McCloskey this evening . <br /> Mr . Caryl , of DMJM , reported over four million dollars <br /> of actual construction now taking place in Redwood <br /> Shores as a resultcf awards made by Council recently : <br /> Beidrain work consisting of mucking out and installing of <br /> utilities crossing the drain ; Bridge Parkway Bridge con - <br /> tractor on site and presently testing piles ; Dolphin <br /> 09 <br />
