475 <br /> subdivision #1 nearing completion with street paving <br /> planned by late this month ; Marlin Subdivision #2 sanitary <br /> sewers and pump stations being installed ; Marlin Sub- <br /> division #1 under way with installation of culverts , sanitary <br /> sewer and storm drains ; Peninsula Parkway curbs and gutters <br /> being poured . <br /> He also expressed his appreciation of the fine maintenance <br /> of the Marine World Parkway landscaping being done by the <br /> Park Department . He also commented on how well the one <br /> neighborhood park area was being used r children on the play <br /> equipment which had been installed . <br /> Construction activities are all going well because of good <br /> weather , and would appear that contractors seemed to be <br /> redoubling their efforts to get as much done as possible . <br /> City Manager stated telephone conversation held with Congressman McCloskey <br /> concerned meeting held in Washington as an aftermath of meeting which had been <br /> held in Menlo Park at the office of the United. States Geologic Survey, and as <br /> reported to Council . He stated he was informed this meeting which had been <br /> attended by representatives of FI-IA , Dames & Moore , and Congressman McCloskey , <br /> was held to reconsider the material covered in Menlo Park and general outcome <br /> of this meeting had resulted in another meeting being set for next week with <br /> top level FHA representatives , during which meeting a decision would be made <br /> as to whether or not a very conclusive study of the seismic safety loading for <br /> dikes would be undertaken , and also it was hoped a decision would be made as <br /> to whether or not this study would apply on a national scale , not to just this <br /> local situation . He stated it was to be hoped that some solution would be reached <br /> at the meeting next week , so that District would know where the problem stands <br /> and be able to reshape program , if necessary , in order that the project can go <br /> forward in the most. expeditious manner possible and take necessary and proper <br /> Y <br /> safeguards to protect District and property owners residing there now . <br /> In reply to question of whether recent earthquake had <br /> resulted in any reports of damage to Redwood Shores , Mr . <br /> Biter advised reports not complete , but that movements had <br /> been insignificant from information he had received from <br /> Coast Geodetic Survey , and evidently associated with Santa <br /> Rosa quake , but reports would be submitted later . <br /> He advised no detailed inspection per se had been made at <br /> Redwood Shores , but from his own observation had witnessed <br /> no evidence of any damage . He assured Council when reports <br /> had been received from seismic instruments by the Coast <br /> Geodetic Survey, they would be submitted to Council . <br /> In answer to question of whether it was intended to con- <br /> struct additional oxidation ponds in Redwood Shores as had <br /> been implied in a letter sent to the Water Quality Control <br /> Board , Mr . Reiter advised it was anticipated oxidation ponds <br /> would be expanded until permanent system had been installed . <br /> City Manager advised communication referred to was required by the Water Quality <br /> Control Board relating to discharge from ponds in which it was stipulated out - <br /> fall not performing at present because of no necessity , but had indicated ex - <br /> pansion site of oxidation ponds was anticipated and that plans and specifications <br /> would require Council action and approval by Water Quality Control Board . <br /> �- Councilman Henderson indicated her continuing opposition to use of Oxidation <br /> Ponds . Councilman Henderson also referred to request submitted by Leslie <br /> Properties for a joint meeting with Council and Planning Commission for re - <br /> consideration of the Steinberger Subdivision Final Map , and indicated favoring <br /> fi l' <br />
