<br /> ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present : Councilmen Dixon Arnett , Paul C .
<br /> Keckley , John S . Rosselli , Ray A . Weymouth , Mayor Robert H . Bury and Deputy City
<br /> Clerk Marian McCrindle . Councilmen Mary W . Henderson and Herbert G . Petersen
<br /> noted absent . Also noted present were City Manager Howard C . Ullrich , City Attorney
<br /> David E . Schricker , Assistant City Manager Henry V . Burget , Police Chi.ef John R .
<br /> McDonald , Planning Director Ken Schroeter , Director of Public Works J . Louis
<br /> Scherer , Senior Planner Speer McClellan and Secretary Frances Ozzanto .
<br /> Planning Commissioners noted present on roll call were : William Floyd , Jr . ,
<br /> Charles R . Moody , Bernard Nobler , William R . Oeser , James S . Williams and Chairman
<br /> Bruce M . Wyckoff . Martin F . Mohr entered meeting shortly after it convened .
<br /> Mayor Bury stated he and Chairman Wyckoff had previously discussed the purpose and
<br /> ground rules for this joint meeting; with the Planning Commission , requested by
<br /> Leslie Properties for a full review of proposed Steinberger Subdivision , and a
<br /> - general discussion on other matters related to the Redwood Shores development ,
<br /> Presentation by Leslie Properties of proposed Steinberger Subdivision ,
<br /> Mr . Coleman Johnson , President of Leslie Properties , expressed appreciation to
<br /> Council and Commission for the opportunity to present their proposal on this sub-
<br /> division and outlined the chronology , from the selection in November 1968 of their
<br /> planning consultants , to start of advance planning , through submittal to Park and
<br /> Recreation Commission and Planning Commission , modifications , resubmittals , and
<br /> f inal. l ? that the Plann -i-np Commission unanimously approved the Tentative Map on
<br /> August 26 , 1. 969 . -however , the City Council denied the application on September R .
<br /> Their presentation at this meeting was to discuss reasons for requesting certain
<br /> exceptions to the Subdivision Ordinance .
<br /> The presentation then continued with commentary and by means of color slides
<br /> i llustratinz; the planned concept of open space , utilizing pedestrian parkways ,
<br /> bicycle parkways and waterways . Included in this series of slides were several
<br /> methods of " edge treatment " , such as boardwalk , landscaped grassy slopes , riprap ,
<br /> or sandy beach . Also illustrated were community park details , adjacent to townhouse
