<br /> Councilman Keckley moved to adopt ORDINANCE NO . 1433 , ADDING SECTION 9 . 41 . 1 TO THE CODE
<br /> OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AMENDING SECTION 302 OF THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE,
<br /> 1967 EDITION , VOLUME 1 , AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING
<br /> OFFICIALS ( SECOND PRINTING ) , HERETOFORE ADOPTED BY REFERENCE, RELATING TO BUILDING
<br /> PERMITS , seconded by Councilman Arnett .
<br /> In reply to questioning of Councilman Henderson as to more specifics of this pro -
<br /> posed Ordinance , particularly with reference to individual hardship cases due
<br /> to financing problems as compared to large contractors , City Attorney advised scope
<br /> of ordinance covered situations as to an " Act of God " , civil commotion , etc . , not
<br /> individual hardship cases . Councilman Henderson indicated her opposition to this
<br /> proposed ordinance as area of exceptions broader than she could support . Motion
<br /> carried on roll call vote , Councilman Henderson voting no , Councilman Petersen
<br /> being noted absent .
<br /> DAMAGE CLAIMS : ( 1 ) William F . Newcomb , 1317 W . Garland , Spokane , Washington , for
<br /> property damages to property owned at 1656 Roosevelt , allegedly caused by sewer
<br /> backup ; ( 2 ) Mrs . George Peponis , 724 Windsor Way , for property damages to property
<br /> owned at 1312 Jefferson Avenue , Apt1 , allegedly caused by sewer backup ; ( 3 ) First
<br /> Thrift of America , Palo Alto , for property damages allegedly caused by City -owned
<br /> and operated vehicle , denied and referred to insurance carrier on motion of

<br /> Mayor Bury stated Congressman McCloskey ' s representative , David Niklaus , had been
<br /> present earlier in the meeting and he had advised him since communication had just
<br /> been received , and had not been reviewed by Council , he would request there be no
<br /> discussion on this matter at this meeting .
