51 <br /> Director of Public Works , responding to question by Council , advised the repairs to the <br /> 12 " steel water line were such as to restore it to as good , or better , condition as <br /> originally . The line cmme apart at a valve fitting as a result of several possible <br /> conditions , such as surges in the water line , which Belmont gave prior warning of ; <br /> possible damage by contractors in the area , type of ground , etc . Motion carried on <br /> roll call vote . <br /> ACCEPTANCE of Project , Broadway-Woodside Channelization and Signalization . Project <br /> completed to the satisfaction of the Department of Public Works who recommended <br /> acceptance , subject to the usual guarantees . Councilman Weymouth moved to accept <br /> the project , subject to the usual one -year guarantee of workmanship and materials , <br /> seconded by Councilman Henderson . <br /> There was a brief discussion as to effect this improvement has had on alleviating <br /> traffic problems at the intersection . While the flow of traffic is improved , as <br /> well as entrance to the Post Office , exiting at peak traffic periods appears to be <br /> unchanged . City Manager indicated the planned Ampex expansion should substantially <br /> reduce volume of traffic in this portion of Broadway . Concern was expressed re - <br /> garding the hazardous situation for Bayshore traffic exiting at the southbound off - <br /> ramp of Woodside Expressway , particularly for those drivers attempting to cross <br /> over to the left -turn storage lane at Broadway . However , since the State has <br /> jurisdiction , this matter is one that will have to be discussed with the Division <br /> of Highways . City Manager briefly commented on the recent origin -destination study <br /> conducted near Ampex and the subsequent report submitted by the Police Chief , who <br /> is expected to prepare a follow-up in lay language . Motion carried . ( MINUTE ORDER <br /> #69 -236 ) <br /> ACCEPTANCE of Project , Broadway Electrical Power System . The project has been completed <br /> to the satisfaction of Public Works Department and they recommended acceptance , <br /> subject to the usual guarantees . Councilman Keckley moved to accept the project , <br /> subject to the one -year guarantee of workmanship and materials , seconded by Council - <br /> man Arnett . <br /> Councilman Petersen questioned whether the problem is being resolved regarding the <br /> street lighting situation , which had resulted from reduced power due to this in - <br /> stallation . Director of. Public Works reported that it had been determined the <br /> cause of dimmed lights on Main Street was the source of power from PG&E inadequate <br /> to carry to the new lines ; that in the preliminary planning , his Department had <br /> been assured by PG&E there would be no problem . However , they hope to have solution <br /> in the near future . Mayor Bury inquired as to maintenance of the electroliers . <br /> Director of Public Works advised replacement program is on an annual basis , with the <br /> next maintenance work scheduled for approximately February, 1970 . He added that <br /> lights are not cleaned on a regular basis , as this would be prohibitive , and that <br /> cleaning is done only when lights are replaced .
