( Sets public hearing for January 12th ) <br /> Council noted that the previous year ' s program was one of the better ones under - <br /> taken , and assumed the 1970 program would be similar . For the record , at the re - <br /> quest of City Attorney , Director of Public Works affirmed that the removal of weeds <br /> and related matters which may injure or endanger neighboring property or the health <br /> or welfare of the inhabitants of the City , is necessary . Motion carried on roll <br /> call vote . <br /> Councilman Keckley moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6172 APPROVING SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE <br /> WEED ERADICATION PROGRAM IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY , AND AUTHORIZING CITY CLERK TO <br /> ADVERTISE FOR BIDS THEREFOR , seconded by Councilman Arnett . Motion carried . <br /> Approval of appointment of Deputy City Attorney at the 2nd Step of the Salary Range . <br /> City Attorney offered justification for this appointment and reviewed the projected <br /> work load in his office . He cited the continuing eminent domain actions in connection <br /> with various projects , including the GID 1 , 2 , 3 , --65 . In addition , there is need for <br /> continual review of ordinances which require updating ; plus new State legislation <br /> affecting municipalities in need of monitoring in order to advise departments in - <br /> volved . <br /> Council members expressed full support for this appointment , Councilman Weymouth <br /> stating his belief the Attorney ' s office had been working short -banded since the <br /> resignation of the previous Assistant Attorney , and that the workload warrants a <br /> three -man staff . Councilman Henderson agreed , noting the present staff level is <br /> the result of attrition and this appointment simply restores the staff to the <br /> previous level ; that the availability of a qualified person at this time is the <br /> important factor . City Attorney advised that the particular individual concerned <br /> would be forced to accept a reduction in salary , since he is currently employed by <br /> the State . <br /> Councilman Keckley moved to appoint Deputy City Attorney at the Second Step of the Salary <br /> Range , seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried .
