Reiter responded , noting the favorable weather conditions up to this time , and advising the Bridge construction is progressing , that the piling is going very well and should be finished in about three weeks . He also noted if progress can continue will be able to deliver fair market value anticipated for March first . Mr . Coleman Johnson of Leslie Properties expressed his gratification on reports of meetings held in Washington . Mayor Bury concluded the report , noting the heavy schedule of meetings , and felt it important that they were successful in conveying the concern of. the City for excellence of the project , rather than the commercial aspects . Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6173 EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO CONGRESSMAN PAUL N . " PETE " MC CLOSKEY, JR . , AND URGING HIS CONTINUING SUPPORT FOR RESOLUTION OF MATTERS RELATING TO FEDERAL HOUSING AUTHORITY FINANCING AND INSURANCE PARTICIPATION IN REDWOOD CITY GENERAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO , 1 -64 ( REDWOOD SHORES ) , Seconded by Councilman Keckley . Councilman Henderson questioned the wording in the title of the draft resolution and City Attorney responded that if a change in the phrasing would make the resolution more acceptable , he would be glad to make the necessary revision . Inasmuch as the Congressman is devoting effort on behalf ofthe City , it was felt that a unanimous acceptance of the resolution was advantageous in expressing Council appreciation . GULLEDGE , COMMISSIONER OF FEDERAL HOUSING AUTHORITY , AND URGING HIS CONTINUING SUPPORT FOR RESOLUTION OF MATTERS RELATING TO FHA FINANCING AND INSURANCE PARTICIPATION IN REDWOOD CITY GENERAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO . 1 -64 ( REDWOOD SHORES ) , seconded by Councilman Arnett , and carried unanimously on roll call vote . i Community Play Center , 703 Vernal Way , Redwood City . Presentation of the purpose and accomplishments of this organization was made by Betty Gillaspy , Director , who expressed thanks to Council for the opportunity to have their request considered for a City contribution . She explained that the Center represented a joint venture of Spanish -speaking and English - speaking residents , with the goal of encouraging community participation . She described the efforts and encouraging results and the assistance received by various agencies , including the Sequoia Adult School , and by individual volunteers , who now number appimately 130 . She expressed great pride in their pre -school program , which not only assists the young children , but contributes to a better mutual understanding for the parents . She reported that since her earlier request for financial assistance from the City in the amount of $ 5 , 000 , their Center received unexpected assistance from a foundation and now have sufficient funds until the middle of March , therefore , wished to modify the request . The Center now proposes that Council consider a resolution to provide continuing support by annual contribution of $ 1 , 000 .
