Reiter responded , noting the favorable weather conditions <br /> up to this time , and advising the Bridge construction is progressing , that the <br /> piling is going very well and should be finished in about three weeks . He also <br /> noted if progress can continue will be able to deliver fair market value anticipated <br /> for March first . Mr . Coleman Johnson of Leslie Properties expressed his gratification <br /> on reports of meetings held in Washington . " PETE " MC CLOSKEY, JR . , AND URGING HIS CONTINUING SUPPORT <br /> FOR RESOLUTION OF MATTERS RELATING TO FEDERAL HOUSING AUTHORITY FINANCING AND <br /> INSURANCE PARTICIPATION IN REDWOOD CITY GENERAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO , 1 -64 <br /> ( REDWOOD SHORES ) , Seconded by Councilman Keckley . <br /> Councilman Henderson questioned the wording in the title of the draft resolution <br /> and City Attorney responded that if a change in the phrasing would make the <br /> resolution more acceptable , he would be glad to make the necessary revision . <br /> Inasmuch as the Congressman is devoting effort on behalf ofthe City , it was felt <br /> that a unanimous acceptance of the resolution was advantageous in expressing <br /> Council appreciation . Presentation of the purpose and <br /> accomplishments of this organization was made by Betty Gillaspy , Director , who <br /> expressed thanks to Council for the opportunity to have their request considered <br /> for a City contribution . She explained that the Center represented a joint <br /> venture of Spanish -speaking and English - speaking residents , with the goal of <br /> encouraging community participation . She described the efforts and encouraging <br /> results and the assistance received by various agencies , including the Sequoia <br /> Adult School , and by individual volunteers , who now number appimately 130 . She <br /> expressed great pride in their pre -school program , which not only assists the <br /> young children , but contributes to a better mutual understanding for the parents . <br /> She reported that since her earlier request for financial assistance from the <br /> City in the amount of $ 5 , 000 , their Center received unexpected assistance from <br /> a foundation and now have sufficient funds until the middle of March , therefore , <br /> wished to modify the request . The Center now proposes that Council consider a <br /> resolution to provide continuing support by annual contribution of $ 1 , 000 . To <br /> demonstrate the attainments of the program since its inception about five years <br /> ago , Mrs . Gillaspy called upon Mrs . Trinidad Esquivel , 416 Heller Street , Redwood <br />
