257 <br /> Councilman Petersen moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 5902 TRANSFERRING $ 5 , 436 FROM <br /> APPROPRIATION FOR PURCHASE OF MATERIALS , SUPPLTKS AND SERVICES TO APPROPRI- <br /> ATION FOR PAYMENT OF SALARIES , FOR BUILDING DEPARTMENT, seconded by Council - <br /> man Weymouth . <br /> City Manager ' s report also noted fact that 1969- 1970 Budget would include two <br /> additional personnel besides that now being requested , comprising specifically <br /> an Electrical Building Inspector , and an Inspector for Housing and Sign Enforce - <br /> ment . Motion carried on roll call vote , Councilman Keckley being noted absent . <br /> Mayor Bury greeted former Building Inspector , Mike Kreiss , in the audience and wel- <br /> comed him on behalf of Council . <br /> Report and recommendation of Transportation Committee . <br /> Vice -Mayor Petersen , as Chairman of Transportation Committee , reviewed the meet - <br /> ings held by Committee with the Sequoia Union High School District in an attempt <br /> to determine whether or not the City was in a position to aid theDistrict with <br /> its student busing problems . He advised after a review of the data furnished <br /> both by Committee andServiCar personnel concerning addresses of the students <br /> within the City , it would appear that present routes served the City ' s student <br /> population very well and no changes warranted , except assist the District by a <br /> reduction in fares charged for students during certain hours of the day . <br /> He also reviewed the offer made from the Redwood City Downtown Merchants Asso - <br /> ciation to purchase , from their Improvement Fund , the advertising panels on <br /> the minibus fleet for $ 20 montly per bus , being equal to the minimum set in <br /> recent unsuccessful call for bids . He also advised merchants have also agreed <br /> to purchase the system between the hours of 10 a .m . and 4 p .m . on February <br /> 21 and 22 , and a charge of 5 cents per fare to be made instead of free rides , <br /> to discourage children from abusing privilege . The Association will be charged <br /> s228 for the hours indicated , based upon an average revenue figure . <br /> Transportation Committee recommended the following : <br /> Institution of a special 10 cents student fare during <br /> school year ( limited to hours of 7 : 00 a . m . to 9 : 00 a .m . <br /> and 3 : 00 p . m . to 4 : 00 p .m . during each school day . ) A <br /> resolution amending current schedule of fares to be sub - <br /> mitted for action at Council meeting of February 17th , <br /> should Council concur with this recommendation . <br /> Offer of the Redwood City Downtown Association , Inc . , to <br /> purchase advertising on the buses and operating time on <br /> February 21 and 22 be accepted . <br /> 1 <br /> Councilman Rosselli moved to accept the Committee report and Staff proceed to <br /> implement the recommendations , seconded by Councilman Arnett and carried . <br /> ( MINUTE ORDER #69-29 ) , <br /> DAMAGE CLAIM of California State Automobile Association on behalf of insured , <br /> Carlo A .
