- 3 - <br />her designee), which has been accepted by the City, in <br />exchange for naming City property or facility after the <br />individual. <br /> <br />(ii) A deceased individual has made exceptional contributions to <br />the City through a long-term commitment to providing benefit <br />to the residents and visitors to Redwood City through one of <br />the following activities: by donating significant financial gifts <br />(as determined by the City Manager or his or her designee), <br />serving as an elected official, or by volunteering in the <br />community. <br /> <br />(iii) An organization has made a donation or sponsorship of a <br />significant level (as determined by the City Manager or his or <br />her designee), which has been accepted by the City, in <br />exchange for naming City property or facility after the <br />organization. <br /> <br />4.2. Re-naming of Certain City-Owned Land and Facilities <br />a. The City desires to retain long-standing names of City-owned land <br />and facilities. However, the City will consider public requests to re- <br />name existing City-owned land and facilities if an individual, group, <br />or private company has made a substantial contribution to the City <br />for the acquisition, improvement, upkeep, or operation of the land <br />or a facility and the donation has been accepted in accordance with <br />the City’s Donation, Sponsorship and City-Related Foundations <br />Grant Policy. <br />b. The following land and facilities shall not be available for re-naming <br />requests: City Hall, Courthouse Square Buildings and places <br />deemed to be of historical significance as determined by the City <br />Council. <br />8.B. - Page 7
