Civic Cultural Commission Page 4 <br /> Minutes of May 2, 2002 <br /> 2002 Summer Concert Series <br /> Commissioner Kushin reported the sub-committee has recommended that <br /> the concert series be increased from 6 bi-monthly concerts to 8 weekly <br /> concerts at Stafford Park. Many new groups have been selected for this <br /> year's program as well as many old favorites based on last year's concert <br /> survey results. Commissioner Kushin announced the budget for this year's <br /> program has been increased to $8,050, and that an additional $1,000 would <br /> be needed to fund the 4th of July concert at the Port. <br /> The Commissioners discussed how much was available in their budget in <br /> order to consider the grant requests presented by this evening's presenters <br /> and still pay for the proposed 2002 Concert Series program. <br /> M/S Britschgi/Kushin: To grant $250.00 to Historic Resources <br /> Advisory Committee for their historic tour to 7th grade students, and <br /> to grant $500.00 to the Redwood City School District for their <br /> Instrumental Music Festival. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> M/S Douglas/Del Carlo: To approve the 2002 Summer Concert <br /> Series program as proposed and the Port Concert for a total of <br /> $9,050.00. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> Director Centeno announced that staff is working to resolve issues that were <br /> raised by neighbors on the concert survey, such as parking issues and <br /> garbage pick ups. <br /> Downtown Jazz Series <br /> Chairperson Dale announced the ad hoc committee is working on selecting <br /> bands for concerts on June 14, 21 and 28, and are hoping to extend the <br /> series through August. Director Centeno asked about paying for the bands <br /> and arranging contracts with the performers and Chairperson Dale said that <br /> he would set up a meeting when more information was available. <br /> -Public Art <br /> Commissioner Britschgi announced that Bob Parkhurst delivered the <br /> Ledesmas to the Senior Center where several will be hung on a permanent <br /> basis and some will be rotated to other City buildings. Director Centeno and <br /> Manager Linda Griffith will meet with Commissioners Britschgi and Kushin to <br /> finalize where the art will be hung in the Senior Center. <br />
