She also asked Susan Houston of the Fair Oaks
Senior Center if there was anything else that needed to be addressed. Ms.
Houston recommended that the transportation survey and any type of
communication also be done in Spanish.
ITEM 4 - PROGRAM UPDATES
-Fair Oaks Senior Center
Susan Houston reported that Zena Vigileos is now on the Paratransit
Coordinating Council. She invited
the Commissioners to the kick-off of the Human Race on April 30.
Manager Griffith announced the Senior Center will be closed for the week of
March 25 because it will be tented for termites. She mentioned the willow
tree behind the Center will be removed on this month because it is diseased.
She also noted the Head Chef position has been offered to one of the
applicants.
Commissioner Borgens stated she saw donated food items being sold in the
lobby of the Senior Center and asked if the Commission could do anything to
stop this. Commissioner M. Walsh explained that all senior groups have been
advised that this is not acceptable and that it could jeopardize the Center's
501C3 status. The Commissioners discussed the matter and Commissioner
Borgens volunteered to make presentations to various senior groups to
explained why this practice is no longer allowed.
