<br /> On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Jones , action on Ordinance No . 376 ,
<br /> regulating and licensing the business of used car" dealers in Redwood. City, was laid
<br /> over until the next meeting.
<br /> Acting City Manager Dimmitt was instructed by the Council to proceed in reference to using
<br /> in all two light electroliers two 400-watt lamps up to Midnight and one thereafter ,
<br /> instead of one 600-watt lamp all through the night as heretofore .
<br /> Following the reading of a communication from Acting City Manager Dimmitt , concerning
<br /> petition presented by W. P.A. workers to the Council on June 1 , asking that prevail-
<br /> ing wages be paid on projects now underway , on motion of Councilman Hohn , seconded
<br /> by Councilman Eva, it was decided to deny the request of the workers , and that the
<br /> present security wage scale , upon which the projects were figured , should be retained.
<br /> A communication from C. L . Dimmitt was read before the Council in which he asked per-
<br /> mission to install a booster pumping plant at Alameda de las Pulgas and Eaton
<br /> Avenue , the estimated cost being $1 , 600 , to supply water in Carmelita Manor. On
<br /> motion of Councilman Jones , seconded by Councilman McNulty , Mr. Dimmitt was authorized
<br /> to proceed with the work as recommended.
<br /> On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Hohn , Quit Claim Deed from the Pacific
<br /> Gas and Electric Company was accepted , "releasing and quitclaiming unto the City of
<br /> Redwood City all rights acquired under and by virtue of that certain deed recorded in
<br /> the County of San Mateo , State of California, in and to Lot A , as said lot is shown
<br /> upon that certain map entitled "Belle Haven Subdivision No . 2 , San Mateo Co . , Calif . "
<br /> recorded in Volume 17 of Maps , at Page 76 , records of said San Mateo County . "
<br /> As no written proposed amendment to our present Fireworks Ordinance was presented, Mayor
<br /> McCarthy ruled out the attempts made to allow the use of fireworks in certain re-
<br /> stricted areas in Redwood City on July 4.
<br /> A two-year Option to purchase Lot 6 of Redwood City Harbor Company lands 9 $1 , 500 per
<br /> acre from the Valley Coast and Warehouse Company was accepted , on motion of Council-
<br /> man Fletcher , seconded by Councilman McNulty.
<br /> A letter was read from the Planning Commission recommending that the set--back lines be
<br /> changed on Main Street from 10 feet on each side to 14 feet on the northeasterly
<br /> side between Maple and El Camino Real , The City Attorney was instructed to draw
<br /> up an ordinance effecting the change . Also , in the same communication , the Plan-
<br /> ning Commission recommended, and permits were issued , on motion of Councilman
<br /> McNulty, seconded by Councilman Christensen , to Jack Keough and Al Davies to
<br /> operate "used car" lots at 768 El Camino Real and lot on the northeast corner of
<br /> Vera Avenue and El Camino Real , respectively. Letter ordered filed.
<br /> A letter was submitted from Stone & Youngberg offering 1915 Act Bonds , $7 , 185 . 24 par value ,
<br /> for a net figure of $6 ,439 . 58 , and on motion of Councilman Christensen , seconded by
<br /> Councilman Jones , the City Treasurer pro tern was authorized to make the purchase .
<br /> Affidavits in the matter of publishing "Notice of Motion" for the special municipal
<br /> election held in the City of Redwood. City on the 11th day of June , 1936 , and the
