On motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Anderson, the City Manager was authorized to take over the flag pole and flag from the County at a cost which might run as high as *300 . There was read a letter from Walter Vandervort in which he expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the City Council for the assistance given him in building up the business for his bus line throughout the City . C . G . Tihlenberg , special auditor , submitted 8 copies of his final report which were accepted by the Council . He also included in his letter of transmission a re- quest that he be reappointed for the ensuing fiscal year at a price not to exceed *500 . At the same time there was also read a letter from George 13 . Middleton , C . P . A. of Alameda , offering to do the audit for the same price , x"500 . It was decided , on motion of Councilman Jones , seconded by Councilman Fletcher , to re - appoint Mr . TJhlenberg for the ensuing year according to his proposal . C . 0 . 10 : 9 . 10 : • • • • . • • 0 . 78 1 , 250 . 34 • : 0 . 105 : 2 , 196 . 60 • Totals 3 , 624 . 04 4, 607.35 3 ,919 . 05 4,389 . 10 After ascertaining the lowest bidder, Councilman Fletcher , seconded by Councilman Jones , proposed the adoption of the following : "RESOLUTION OF AWARD NO . 1938-4 WHEREAS , The Council of. the City of Redwood City did , in open session on the 29th day of August , 1938 , publicly open, examine and declare all sealed proposals or bids for doing the following work and making the following im- provements in said City of Redwood City, to wit : That Nevada Street be improved from the existing pavement near Brewster Avenue to the existing pavement near Hopkins Avenue , by being graded for the entire width of said Street between said points of existing pavement , and by having construction on both sides of said Nevada Street combined cement concrete curbs and gutters and be constructing between said combined curbs and gutters a 4-inch stabilized slurry base pavement with a 1 inch asphaltic armour coat wearing surface . The width of that portion of Nevada Street hereinbefore mention- ed , and the width of the roadway thereof and the width of the side- walks thereof are to be and are , as shown on the plans , profiles , and detailed drawings hereinafter referred to herein. 435
