In view of the argument <br /> presented and in order to allow organizations which might be affected to appear at the <br /> next meeting, the matter was laid over for two weeks , on motion of Councilman Jones , se- <br /> conded by Councilman LicNulty. <br /> Affidavit of The Tribune covering publication of ordinance rezoning Lots 11 and 12 of Block 52 , <br /> Eastern Addition , was ordered filed following which, on motion of Councilman Fildebrant , <br /> seconded by Councilman Jones , this Ordinance No . 347 was adopted. In connection with the <br /> rezoning, it was decided to send a bill to the owner of the property for the cost of publi- <br /> cation and postage , on motion of Councilman. McCarthy , seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br /> The City Engineer , in regard to the extension of Maple Street to the Bays1 ore Highway, asked per- <br /> mission to postpone his report until the next neeting , at which time he could make a con lete <br /> statement . <br /> Councilman Jones asked if an explanation could be given to A. R. Smith of 933 King Street con- <br /> cerning his improvement assessments. The City Manager explained that the best way would be <br /> to have Mr. Smith come to the City Hall where the records were kept for this purpose. <br /> The City Manager explained that certain California cities were deriving considerable income from <br /> franchise payments made by public corporations and was interested in .owing whether Redwood <br /> City had ever received anyt=hing of this nature or if there was any possibility of such an <br /> arrangement . It was decided that the City Attorney would be the logical person to investi- <br /> gate this and he was asked to look into the matter and report back. <br /> The Clerk read a communication from the Tuolumne River Water Project Association and the Modesto <br /> Water Users Association concerning the use of rater from the American River which was ordered <br /> filed. A coma nication from the Leagae of California Municipalities concerning legislative <br /> policy and action concerning liquor control was also read and ordered filed. In connection <br /> with the announcement of the Western Conference on Government to be held in Berkeley, March <br /> 2g , 29 and 30 , the Clerk was asked to write for a program. <br /> Councilman Hildebrant , seconded by Councilman McCarthy , introduced the following motion which <br /> was unanimously carried. <br /> RESOLVED BY TEE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RflVOOD CITY that the Treasurer <br /> of said city be and he is hereby authorized and directed to transfer from the <br /> water fund of said city, the sum of $22 , 000 and to set up in a special Rand for <br /> the payment of the construction of the new Emerald Lake Reservoir and Pipe Line. <br /> AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Treasurer be hereby directed to <br /> deposit in said fund any and all money paid to the City of Redwood City by the <br /> United States Administration of Public Works upon project No . 42 . 22 Docket No . <br /> 1954, the same being the project for the construction of said new Emerald Lake <br /> Reservoir and Pipe Line. <br /> ADD BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Treasurer be and he is hereby <br /> authorized and directed upon the completion of said work and the payment therefor <br /> in full , to transfer any and all Honey then remaining in said special fund back <br /> to the water fund of said city. <br /> Following up the previous resolution , Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, moved <br /> that the Treasurer of the City of Redwood City, be and he is hereby authorized and directed <br />
