MINUTES OF REGULAR MEET IN G REEWOOD CITY COUNCIL AUGUST 6 , 1934 g : 00 P .Iii . Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : Mayor , C . G. Lambert , L. C . Christensen , J. M. Eva , E . A. Fletcher , R. N . Jones , P . A. McCarthy , Geo . W . McNulty , City Clerk, B . E. Myers . Absent : None . The minutes of the meeting of July 16 , 1934 , were approved on motion of Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman Christensen . After affidavit of publication was ordered filed, Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman Eva, proposed the adoption of Ordinance No . 350 prohibiting parking on the north—easterly half of Perry Street . Carried. After affidavit of publication was ordered filed , Councilman Christensen , seconded by Councilman Fletcher , proposed the adoption of Ordinance No 351 amending the general license ordinance to take care of light weight trucks doing wholesale business in Redwood City . Carried . Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman Fletcher , introduced ordinance amending the general tax ordinance No . 327 and providing for the estra penalties following the first year delin- quency. Considerable discussion was had about the proper action to take in meeting the delinquency of 1915 Act assessments . It was finally decided on motion of Councilman Jones , seconded by Councilman McNulty, to make a special 150 levy to take care of all outstanding interest coupons to June 30 , 1934 and to pay accrued interest to the s *se date on all defaulted bonds . notion carried with Councilman Fletcher voting "No " . Councilman Fletcher exolained. about a tentative arrangement he had made with a Mr. W . A. Newsom concerning the use of one of the buildings at the old corporation yard at a rental of $10 . 00 a month. He stated the gentleman if satisfied might wish other space and pay a substantial rent for it . His action was approved on motion of Councilman McNulty , secon- ded by Councilman Eva. Mayor Lambert appointed John. Gill and Mrs . Z. T . Thorning to succeed themselves as members of the Library Board of Trustees and the appointment was approved by the Council on motion of Councilman Eva , seconded by Councilman Fletcher . Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman Fletcher , proposed and moved the adoption of a resolution requesting the State Highway Commission to allocate money in the next budget for actual construction work in the widening of El Camino Real through Redwood City with- out further delay. Unanimously carried . C . G. Urnlenberg , Special Auditor of the city , filed his report for the year ' s audit , each Councilman receiving a copy. Councilman McCarthy suggested that the Council do something , if possible , to bring about a better telephone service within Redwood City and the surrounding communities . On his motion, seconded by Councilman Christensen , it was decided to refer this subject to the Citizens ' Advisory Board. A request was filed with the Council by E. T . Harrison for the Chamber of Cor nerce , asking the city to appropriate money to be used for publicity in connection with the proposed County bond issue for Redwood City Harbor .
