30 MINUTES OF REGULAR MATING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL JULY 3 , 1933 S : OO P .M . Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : Mayor W. J. Dusel , H. A. Beeger, R. N. Jones , C . G. Lambert , Paul A. McCarthy , City Clerk, B . E. Myers . Absent : Council- man , C . J. Hildebrant and G. W. McNulty. The minutes of the meeting of June 19 were approved on motion of Councilman Lambert , seconded by Councilman McCarthy. Stephen G. Seasak, a plumber , asked the Council to reduce plumbers ' licenses . He was requested to take up the matter with the other plumbers of the town and have them agree upon some proposal which they could make to the Council either in person or in writing. A petition was presented , signed by several property owners along Jefferson Avenue , requesting that some Eucalyptus trees in the 1100-block, between Clinton and Cleveland , be removed. The matter was referred to the City Manager. On motion of Councilman Beeger , seconded by Councilman Lambert , application for alcoholic beverage license of the University Creameries , Ltd. , N. P . Christensen, Manager , was granted. The question of the kind of business being operated by Charles Foley , at the corner of Broadway and Hamilton Streets , was brought up and the Clerk was instructed to ask Mr. Foley to appear before the Council at the adjourned meeting for July 10. A request was made on the Council for a contribution of $100 toward defraying some of the expense incurred by the San Mateo County Harbor Committee. Before making the contribution , it was thought best to refer the matter to the City Manager for further investigation. Mayor Dusel was instructed by the Council to send a telegram to the Secretary of Commerce , Washington, D. C. , concerning the appointment of a State Director under the National In- dustrial Recovery Act . The following telegram was sent : "Relative to the matter of State Director National Industrial Recovery Act it is requested that you seriously consider the suggestions of the California Municipal Utilities Association . " Tony Giraldes who owns the property at 2303 El Camino Real , asked permission of the Council to have transferred the Pool Hall license now held in the name of Santiago E. Calaor to Nick Bustillo . His request was referred to the Chief of Police with the idea that if his investigation proved satisfactory that the permission would be granted immediately. . The departmental reports were ordered filed. The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Beeger , seconded by Councilman Jones .
