The following applicants were considered for appointment with the votes as noted below: • Denise Brosseau — Council Members Bain, Foust, Ruskin, Vice Mayor Pierce and Mayor Ira • Karen Brunton - Council Members Bain, Foust, Howard, Ruskin, Vice Mayor Pierce and Mayor Ira • John Dempsey — Council Members Bain, Howard, Ruskin and Mayor Ira (tie vote with Marc Manuel) • Cecilia Ellis • Charles Greer — Council Members Foust, Howard, Ruskin, Vice Mayor Pierce and Mayor Ira • Marc Manuel — Council Members Bain, Foust, Howard and Vice Mayor Pierce (tie vote with John Dempsey) • Shawn White The first roll call vote resulted in the following successful applicants being appointed to three of the four four -year terms expiring May 31, 2008: Denise Brosseau, Karen Brunton and Charles Greer. A second vote was taken for the fourth term with the following resulting vote: • John Dempsey — Council Members Bain, Howard, Ruskin and Mayor Ira • Marc Manuel — Council Members Foust and Vice Mayor Pierce The successful applicant resulting from the second vote for the fourth four -year term expiring May 31, 2008 was John Dempsey. MINUTE ORDER 04 -140 C. Mayor Ira — stated that the Grand Marshall of the Fourth of July parade was Major Shawn Phillips and that he and Vice Mayor Pierce had dinner with Major Phillips and his family. He further stated that there is a strong interest in Redwood City adopting a unit under the guidelines of "America Supporting Americans ". Mayor Ira received consensus from the Council to bring the topic forward for consideration at a later date.
