Emergency /Disaster Preparedness policy and introduction of Ordinance <br />(1001 -02) <br />Report: City Manager, 10/3/90 <br />City Manager Smith presented the staff report. <br />CONSENSUS: Mayor La Berge determined it to be the consensus of the Council <br />to reject Alternate A and to consider Alternate B. <br />Councilman Murray suggested the following amendments to Alternate B. <br />a) Be consistent with lower case and upper case throughout <br />b) Add word "Advisory" to "Section 10.4." to read: <br />"Section 10.4. Disaster Advisory Committee powers and duties." <br />c) Add word "Director" to "Section 10.5 (a)" to read <br />"Section 10.5. ... <br />(a) .... The City Manager shall be the Director of Emergency <br />Services (Director)." <br />d) Omit surplusage "of the City of Redwood City" and revise subsection <br />(a) of "Section 10.6 (a)" to read: <br />"Section 10.6. ... <br />(a) Upon proclamation of a local emergency or state of emergency as <br />defined herein, the Council, or if a quorum of the Council is <br />unable to convene, the Mayor, or in the Mayor's absence or <br />inability to act, the Vice Mayor, or in the absence or inability <br />to act of both the Mayor and Vice Mayor, the Director is hereby <br />empowered to:" <br />e) Add the words "to ratify or rescind" and delete the words "by the <br />director" to "Section 10.6 (a) (1)" to read: <br />"Section 10.6. <br />(a) (1) ... the City Council shall take action to ratify or rescind <br />the proclamation..." <br />Reg.
