8.3.B. - Page 65 <br /> 7.154.1.2 The employee, if no longer ill, returns to duty immediately following <br /> the vacation period; and, <br /> 7.154.1.3 The employee's illness is verified by a statement from an accredited <br /> medical doctor for each such day of sick leave requested. <br /> 7.154.2 When the employee's vacation leave is to be converted to sick leave, the <br /> appropriate vacation credit shall be restored to the employee's earned vacation <br /> balance, and a reasonable opportunity to utilize this vacation credit shall be <br /> provided within the City's existing practices in order to avoid loss of vacation <br /> credit. <br /> 7.165 Holidays <br /> Regular full-time employees shall be entitled to take all authorized holidays at full pay, <br /> not to exceed ten (10) hours, for any one (1) day, provided they are in a pay status ten <br /> (10) hours, as the case may be, on both their regularly scheduled workdays immediately <br /> preceding and following the holiday; and provided further that original probationary <br /> employees shall be eligible for the following holidays one (1) through ten (10) only at <br /> the straight-time rate of pay during the first six (6) months of service with the City and <br /> for the floating holidays eleven(11) only upon completion of twelve(12)months'service <br /> with the City. <br /> The following shall be paid holidays to all employees who are covered by this MOU: <br /> 1. New Year's Day(Observed January 1) <br /> 2. Martin Luther King Jr. Day(observed on the 3rd Monday in January) <br /> 3. Washington's Birthday(Observed on the third Monday in February) <br /> 4. Memorial Day(Observed on the last Monday in May) <br /> 5. Independence Day(Observed July 4) <br /> 6. Labor Day(Observed on the first Monday in September) <br /> 7. Veterans Day(Observed November 11) <br /> 8. Thanksgiving Day(Observed the 4th Thursday in November) <br /> 9. The Day after Thanksgiving <br /> 10. Christmas Eve (Observed December 24) <br /> 11. Christmas Day(Observed December 25) <br /> 12. New Year's Eve(Observed December 31) <br /> 13. Two administrative holidays and such other days as may be proclaimed local <br /> holidays. <br /> In the event any of the holidays specified above occurs while an employee is on vacation <br /> or sick leave, the holiday shall not be charged as vacation or sick leave. <br /> A holiday that falls on Saturday shall be celebrated on Friday and a holiday that falls on <br /> Sunday shall be celebrated on Monday. <br /> In the event that any Administrative Holiday has not been used by the last pay period in <br /> the year (based on the preceding 26 pay periods), the City will endeavor to make <br /> 19 <br />
