3. Continue to monitor the corridor and make adjustments as needed.

Feedback from the Complete Streets Advisory Committee included:

· Appreciate the respectful and civil comments,
· Need to look to the future – generational shift toward more walking and biking
and the infrastructure needs to support that,
· Trying to design the road to influence driver behavior because we can’t have
enforcement all the time,
· Additional enforcement is needed to address illegal driving (driving in center turn
lane and/or bike lane),
· Consider modifications to Emerald Hill/Farm Hill (include in upcoming citywide
transportation plan), striping and signage around the Jefferson curve, Farm
Hill/McGarvey signal timing,
· Consider green bike lanes as an additional cue to drivers where to expect people
riding bikes,
· Look into traffic calming in neighborhoods impacted by the project (e.g. Fernside
and Lancaster/Oakridge), and
· Challenging to balance the needs of everyone on the corridor, but safety is
everyone’s priority.

Community Feedback
As of this writing (since the Complete Streets Advisory Committee meeting), staff has
received 29 emails from members of the community, weighing in on the project. Of
those communications, 8 suggest modifications to the design or were neutral, 7 support
returning the street to its previous configuration, and 14 support making the pilot
permanent.
Representative comments from those who oppose making the pilot permanent include:
· More congestion and backup than before,
· Frustrated drivers are being unsafe (unsafe passing/merging, rolling through stop
signs, etc.),
· Priority should be for people driving, not the few people riding bikes,
· Don’t make this change until the impacts of downtown construction are known,
· Makes it harder for people living in the neighborhood – residents feel trapped in
their neighborhood because they can’t get onto Farm Hill/Jefferson,
· Data is not representative of people’s experiences, and
· Include input from the Fire and Police departments.

Representative comments from those who support making the pilot permanent include:
· Results of the project were not as bad as expected,
8.A. - Page 9
