I think this sign should be replaced by one that depicts both lanes -- keep a left-
turning arrow, but also show that the right lane (only) goes straight (or slightly to the right).
I also find the wording of the 2 signs that have words a bit ...
unexpected. I'm not recalling exactly what they say just now, but the kind of wording I would expect would be
(e.g.):
*THRU TRAFFIC MERGE LEFT
*RIGHT LANE MUST TURN RIGHT
(I think one of the signs mentions "exit," which seems out-of-place on a surface street.)
Of course, it's also important to avoid over-signage. :-}
Finally: I know at least one person who, when driving in the right lane toward Highland, fails to merge far enough to
the right to miss the bike lane after it crosses the lane bound for Highland, using the claim that there's insufficient
room to do otherwise.
Thanks again for your efforts!
Peace,
david
--
David H.
