<br />ORDINANCE AWARDING A NON-EXCLUSIVE FRANCHISE TO CONSTRUCT, OPERATE AND <br />MAINTAIN A CABLE TELEVISION SYSTEM WITHIN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY TO TCI <br />CABLEVISION OF CALIFORNIA, INC.; ESTABLISHING CERTAIN CONDITIONS THEREFOR; <br />AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1906 AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT <br />HEREWITH <br /> <br />Approved for 1st reading by unanimous roll call vote. <br /> <br />-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br />MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> <br />a. Councilman Stangel reported on the annual Chamber of Commerce business <br />meeting and dance honoring the Chamber Persons of the Year, inducting new <br />President Don Warren and thanking outgoing President Dan Webb. <br /> <br />Councilwoman Buchan also paid tribute to Redwood City employees involved in <br />the Persian Gulf War, and advised she had written, on behalf of the City <br />Council, to Police officer Michael Lutticken in the Marine Corps. <br /> <br />c. Councilwoman Buchan advised that the Messiah Lutheran Church has proclaimed <br />1991 as the Year of the Family, and through its adult education program has <br />invited Councilwoman Buchan to speak on February 10, 1991 on the topic: <br />why Redwood City is a good place for families. <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />d. Councilman Murray reported on City/County Association of Governments meeting <br />and adoption of by-laws, Supervisor Huening to serve as Chairman for the <br />first 6 months and Mayor Miller of Brisbane the last 6 months; and, the <br />demise of the Regional Planning Committee. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Bury announced he had been reappointed to the Bay Conservation <br />and Development Commission for another 2 year term. <br /> <br />e. <br /> <br />-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br />BOARD, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />14. <br /> <br />Request from the Civic Cultural Commission to approve the following grants: <br />(302-07) <br /> <br />Report: <br /> <br />Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services, 1/16/91 <br /> <br />a. <br /> <br />M/S: Claire/Stangel to grant $1,000 to the Redwood City School District <br />to purchase tickets for live performances at the Circle Star Theatre <br /> <br />Carried by unanimous voice vote. <br /> <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 91-015 <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />M/S: Claire/Stangel to grant $450 to Raices de Mexico to support <br />instructors salaries for cultural youth dance classes <br /> <br />Carried by unanimous voice vote. <br /> <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 91-016 <br /> <br />-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br />Reg.
