Matt Pietro, appellant, 644 Portofino Lane, Foster City described other new new buildings in Redwood City and their stucco composition, and added that he could not tell from the original drawings that the completed building would be so massive and garage-like. Mike Pietro, owner of 510 Veterans Boulevard property, advised that no other building in Redwood City is all brick; that permits have been issued to other stucco buildings; and, brick columns and brick around the windows would be maintained. Carried by unanimous voice vote and hearing closed at 8:03 p.m. No one else wished to Council Members discussed original plans approval; need for architectural features; incongruity of brick and cement as it is obvious it is a brick veneer; loss of original roof as architectural feature; and need for permit agreements to be kept. Councilman Stangel suggested so much brick would indeed be overpowering. M/S: Claire/Murray to deny appeal of Zoning Administrator's decision denying architectural permit to revise building elevations with the following findings: "FINDINGS: The denial is based on the findings that the proposed change in design lacks design continuity and creates a monotonous appearance in contravention of Zoning Ordinance Section 45.8A and that the proposed design does not conform to the general character of the other structures in the vicinity contrary to the provisions of Zoning Ordinance Section 45.8C."
